Grandpa Jose Ortega stabbed his 12-year-old grandson in the arm in dispute over doughnut
A Kansas City man was charged with stabbing his 12-year-old grandson during an argument over a doughnut.
Jackson County prosecutors accused 67-year-old man of stabbing his 12-year-old grandson after they argued over a doughnut Tuesday morning in Raytown.
Jose D. Ortega, has been charged with first-degree domestic assault and armed criminal action for the knife attack the Kansas City Star reported.
Ortega reportedly fled the scene before police officers arrived, but later returned and was arrested without incident. The victim ran to a neighbor’s house where police were called, and he was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.
Hospital staff told police the blade went completely through the boy’s forearm.
Police found what looked to be blood on a 10-inch knife outside the boy’s home.
Ortega told police his grandson was disrespectful and that he “snapped” when the boy refused to give him a doughnut.
His bond was set at $50,000.
