A first date involving a 77-year-old Virginia man turned into a nightmare when he allegedly choked a 23-year-old woman he met an online dating website, according to reports.
Alan Schmitt was arrested following the alleged attack on the young woman he had met on dating site Plenty of Fish last week, at his home on October 24.
The criminal complaint sates that victim told police that when she met Schmitt, he was much older than what he made himself out to be. She informed him that she was not interested but that they could still be friends, according to WAVY.com.

Police say Schmitt, 77, portrayed himself as a much younger person online. The victim informed him on their first date that he was not interested and his persistence didn’t pay off

The persistent Schmitt took his young date to a mall where he spent more than $400 on her at Victoria’s Secret PINK store. He then took her back to her Newport News home, where the alleged attack occurred, the complaint says.
At some point, Schmitt told the woman he wanted the clothes back, including a shirt she had been wearing, but when the woman refused to return it the situation escalated, according to the complaint.An angered Schmitt then allegedly grabbed the victim around
the neck, threw her to the ground and got on top of her, the complaint said.
When police arrived at the residence, a police officer observed “bleeding scratches” around the woman’s neck.
Schmitt told cops a different story, saying that the woman had pushed him in his face, causing him to lose his balance so he reached out and grabbed her by the neck, according to the complaint.
Schmitt was charged with felony strangling of another causing wounds or injury.
