A North Carolina man and his biological daughter were charged with incest after the father impregnated her.
Katie Pladl, 20, was born to Steven Walter Pladl and her mother. She was then legally adopted out of state.
When Katie Pladl turned 18, she pursued her biological parents via social media, according to warrants, CBS North Carolina reports.
They reunited and, in August 2016, Katie Pladl moved into her parents’ home outside of Richmond, Va., with their two other children, according to reports.|
Steven Pladl and his wife separated in November 2016, after Katie Pladl moved home, CBS North Carolina reports. The wife told authorities that her husband would sleep on the floor of Katie’s room before she moved out of the home.
On May 23, 2017, Steven Pladl’s ex-wife discovered through the journal of one of her younger daughters that Katie was pregnant with Steven Pladl’s baby.
Eight days later child welfare workers in Virginia began conducting interviews, according to the station. They interviewed the two young Pladl girls who said they had been told their father fathered Katie’s baby.
The warrants show that Steven told his two daughters to call Katie their step-mom, the station reported.
Police in suburban Richmond issued arrest warrants for Pladl and Katie last November.

At some point after May 31, 2017, Katie and Steven Pladl moved to Wake County., and apparently got married.
On Nov. 29, 2017, Henrico County police issued warrants for the arrest of Katie and Steven Pladl.
Steven and Katie Pladl were arrested on Jan. 27 at a home in Knightdale, N.C.
A baby born in September 2017 was with the new couple when they were arrested.
The pair are being held at the Wake County Detention Center pending extradition to Virginia.
They are each charged with incest with adult, adultery, contributing to delinquency, and were both issued a $1 million bond.
Steven Pladl has been released on bond but Katie remains in jail, according to court records.
They appeared in court for the first time Monday.
Katie Pladl shared a photo on July 21, 2017, of the couple at their apparent wedding.
“Nothing fancy, just love #justmarried #simplewedding #pregnancy,” she captioned two images showing Katie and Steven together.
