French director Luc Besson has been accused of drugging and raping an actress at a Paris hotel, according to reports. The complaint was lodged just as the 2018 festival ended on Saturday.

The unidentified 27-year-old actress filed a complaint with police on Friday morning accusing Besson of drugging her tea and then sexually abusing her while she was unconcious, Europe 1 reported.

In the compaint, the woman says she awoke with memories of touching and penetration. She added that Besson had exited the hotel room before her and left behind a wad of cash.

The young actress who has worked with Besson on two movies filed a complaint with the police accusing the producer/ director [photo, left], of raping her earlier this week, a French news outlet reported Saturday.
The actress says that the incident, which she described as a “violent sexual assault,” happened last Thursday, May 10, following a meeting with the director at Bristol Hotel near the Champs-Élysée in Paris.
Besson’s attorneys said theier client “categorically denied all the accusations made against him.”
Rumors of sexual misconduct against Besson have been swirling since the emergence of the #MeToo movement. So far in France, not a single high-profile figure of the French film industry has been brought low as part of the movement. Besides cultural barriers, the outing of public figures has also been made difficult because of France’s strict libel laws.

The 59-year-old “Lucy” director acknowledged being in contact with the actress episodically, but denied ever drugging or raping her.

Most recently to film producer Virginie Silla, whom he wed in 2004.
He married second wife, Maïwenn Le Besco, when she was 15 after she became pregnant with their daughter Shanna. Besson was 32 at the time.

In 2000, Besson was the president of the Cannes Film Festival jury.
