Roseanne Barr’s Twitter rant spewed false conspiracy theories, attacked former first daughter Chelsea Clinton and went after a former adviser to President Barack Obama with what many perceived to be a racist insult.
“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values,” the network later said in a statement.
Barr fired off a bizarre tweetstorm Monday night into Tuesday, falsely claiming Chelsea Clinton is married to George Soros’ nephew, repeating a false rumor that the billionaire is a Nazi sympathizer and cracking a racist joke about former Obama adviser Valerie Jarrett, then turned around to announce she was quitting the social media platform altogether in the wake of the backlash.

The comedienne started her intemperate internet rant
just before midnight Monday, tweeting, “Chelsea Soros Clinton,” followed by a since-deleted tweet that said, “she’s married to Soros nephew.”
An hour later, Barr followed up with, “soros’ goal; the overthrow of us constitutional republic by buying/backing candidates 4 local district attorney races who will ignore US law & favor ‘feelings’ instead-and call everyone who is alarmed by that ‘racist.’”
In another tweet, she called Soros a “nazi who turned in his fellow Jews 2 be murdered in German concentration camps & stole their wealth.”
Then, in response to someone who questioned what Hillary Clinton is “hiding under her winter clothes at the end of May,” Barr replied, “its a colostomy jug cuz full of shite.”
Barr, who currently stars in the revival of her hit TV show “Roseanne,” also posted a racist tweet about President Barack Obama’s former senior adviser, Valerie Jarrett.
“muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj,” she wrote in the tweet, which has been deleted.
Chelsea Clinton clapped back on Roseanne, Tuesday
Barr’s post about Chelsea got a response from the 38-year-old Chelsea herself: “Good morning Roseanne – my given middle name is Victoria. I imagine George Soros’s nephews are lovely people. I’m just not married to one. I am grateful for the important work @OpenSociety does in the world. Have a great day!” Chelsea Clinton wrote.
Barr wouldn’t let go – she wrote in response, “CORRECTION: CHELSEA CLINTON IS NOT MARRIED TO A SOROS NEPHEW. HER HUSBAND IS THE SON OF A CORRUPT SENATOR, SO SORRY!:”
By Tuesday morning, the heat of the fire she lit was creeping up. Barr proceeded to issue a blanket apology announcing, “I am now leaving Twitter.”
“I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans,” Barr wrote. “I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about her politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me-my joke was in bad taste.”
On Tuesday morning, Roseanne Barr went on a Twitter tirade against liberals, invoking conspiracy theories, lobbing a bizarre slur at Barack Obama’s top adviser Valerie Jarrett, and weirdly claiming Chelsea Clinton is married to a Soros.

Barr’s ABC show was renewed for a second season after just one episode, and who is also one of the biggest promoters of online far-right conspiracy theories — and a vocal supporter of President Trump. Earlier this year, Trump even called Barr to congratulate her on her show’s success and thank her for her support.
Barr kicked off the ruckus by accusing former first daughter Chelsea Clinton, of being married to a nephew of billionaire philanthropist George Soros, for whom the comedian nurses a deep loathing, on par with her emotions towards Chelsea’s parents former President Bill Clinton and Sec. Hillary Clinton
Chelsea Clinton, who is not, in fact, married to a nephew of George Soros, responded, telling Roseanne that her middle name is not “Soros” but “Victoria,” and that she is in no way related to the Soros family: Her husband is the son of former Sen. Edward Mezvinsky
Barr apologized for the mistake, but then proceeded to tweet that Chelsea Clinton’s husband “is the son of a corrupt senator.” Clinton’s husband’s father, Edward Mezvinsky, was convicted of fraud in 2002 and served five years in prison.
