Judge Sheeran deferred Zolkowski, on an additional 220 days in jail, which she’ll only have to serve if she violates probation, according to the news outlet. She will be on probation for two years after her jail term. Zolkowski will also have to be tested for drugs and alcohol and get substance abuse counseling.

In March, Zolkowski reportedly admitted to making up the alleged rape, telling the judge: “I called Delta College and falsely reported the rape on their campus. My mother made the initial call and I took the phone and continued to report.”
The woman told her mother she had been raped in a back parking lot but never named any suspects. She said she was “assaulted previously, not at Delta’s campus,” and “was ashamed of the circumstances of that.”
Zolkowski initially gave contradicting accounts of what she claimed happened at the school.
She reportedly told police she was walking to her car when a man grabbed her from behind and raped her without a condom while holding her face and throat, and said she only saw the man’s hands and that he fled in a car before she could see his face.
Zolkowski refused a physical exam after the alleged incident, the news outlet reported in August 2017.

When investigators met with her a second time, Zolkowski reportedly said the suspect was an acquaintance and she had been raped at an apartment.
At the time she apologized for her confusion, adding she didn’t want to press charges.
Interviwed by cops, the man she named admitted that  he had been with Zolkowski on Feb. 22 and that they had never gone to Delta. They had mutually consensual sexual intercourse.
He provided investigators with text messages they had exchanged, in which Zolkowski claims to have been raped by a stranger at Walmart after they had separated. In another message, Zolkowski asks the man not to participate in the police investigation, court records show.
The man went on to tell police Zolkowski had told him she was trying to get a refund from Delta college.
Since their last time with her, the complainant had filed a report with the Saginaw Township Police Department claiming the man she had previously named had shoved her to the floor and raped her.
In a third interview with police on May 12, Zolkowski reportedly changed her story again, telling police she wanted to tell the suspect to stop during sex, but it ended before she was able to do so.
In court during her plea Zolkowski was asked why she invented the campus rape and she responded, “I was assaulted previously, not at Delta’s campus,” she said. “And because I was ashamed of circumstances of that, when my mother called, I vented through Delta, which was very wrong of me. I should have been truthful from the very beginning, and I used Delta.”
Her attorney, James F. Piazza, said his client has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder, conditions for which she is receiving treatment.
“She has been and will continue to be on psychotropic medication related to her illness,” Piazza said. He added that she is engaged to be married and plans on going back to school.
Zolkowski, who pleaded guilty to making a false report of a felony, faced up to four years in prison and a $2,000 fine.
