A 58-year-old man from the Bronx, New York who brutally knifed his wife to death in her their apartment made a shocking admission after his arrest, prosecutors said: “At least now I don’t have to worry about another man f—ing my wife.”
Convicted sex offender Virgil Solis made the statement on his way to central booking, just hours after he repeatedly stabbed his wife, 53-year-old Valerie Solis [photo, left], on Monday morning.
Assistant district attorney Richard Fasano said made the shocking revelation at the parolee’s arraignment Tuesday.
That statement drew gasps and sobs from Valerie Solis’ relatives in the courtroom.
Solis, a parolee required to wear an ankle bracelet, is accused of killing his wife at about 8:30 a.m. in her Tremont apartment on Southern Blvd.
Opposing bail for the suspect, Fasano told the court “(He) then called several people including his parole officer and several members of the victim’s family to report to them what he had done”.
Stating why Solis should be held without bail, Assistant district attorney Fasano said: “He then broke his ankle monitor and then fled until he was apprehended by police in downtown New York City.”
