Singer R Kelly faces another Grand jury ‘after new video evidence emerges of R. Kelly having sex with a 14-year-old girl’

A grand jury has reportedly been convened following new allegations that R. Kelly was filmed allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old girl.
Sources told CNN on Monday that the grand jury has been seated in Cook County, Illinois after attorney Michael Avenatti revealed last week that he had given prosecutors newly uncovered evidence of the R&B star having sex with the underage girl.

The Cook County State Attorney’s Office would not confirm or deny reports of a grand jury or if the office is investigating the latest allegations involving Kelly.
Kelly and his attorney have for years denied allegations of sexual misconduct involving women and underage girls.
His attorney, Steve Greenberg, said he had not been notified of grand jury proceedings.
‘No one from law enforcement has contacted me or my client regarding any potential investigation,’ he said.
‘Grand jury proceedings are, by law, supposed to be secret, so to the extent people are commenting on what may or may not be going on today are possibly violating the law.’

Meanwhile, Avenatti has also claimed that he has evidence that shows Kelly’s 2008 acquittal for child porn charges was ‘rigged’, including witnesses intimidation and evidence tampering.
Avenatti claimed late Sunday that his team had uncovered how the R&B singer was able to be acquitted of the charges during his trial a decade ago.
‘We have discovered substantial evidence that he and certain enablers engaged in systematic witness intimidation, evidence tampering, physical threats, and payments to witnesses,’ Avenatti said in a tweet.
‘They rigged the trial.’
Following the claims, Avenatti told WGN Morning News on Monday that he would be surprised if Kelly ‘ever walks free another day in his life’.
It comes after Avenatti revealed last week that he gave Chicago prosecutors newly uncovered video evidence of the R&B star having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Avenatti says his video isn’t the same as the previous tape uncovered in 2002 that was used as evidence in Kelly’s 2008 child pornography trial.
Prosecutors said that tape depicted Kelly, who was then 35, having sex with a girl as young as 13.
Kelly was acquitted after the girl and her parents declined to testify.

Kelly for years has consistently denied allegations of sexual misconduct – a serial predator who over the years has abused women and underage girls. Authorities asked potential victims to come forward last month after a documentary ‘Surviving R. Kelly’ revisited the allegations against him and put a spotlight on new ones.

Avenatti’s has come forward with newly uncovered video, which is nearly 45-minutes long. It shows a man who appears to be Kelly performing sex acts with a girl who refers to her body parts as 14 years old.
Avenatti, best known for representing porn star Stormy Daniels in her lawsuit against President Trump, said his office was retained in April 2018 by multiple people regarding allegations of sexual assault of minors by Kelly.
He said the video surfaced during a 10-month investigation that included witness interviews and examination of documents and evidence throughout the U.S.
He told The Associated Press the person who provided the tape knew both Kelly and the female in the video. He also said he did not know where the person had kept the video or why it had not previously been provided to law enforcement.
The newly unearthed footage, which lasts 42 minutes and 45 seconds, is clear and explicit. – Avenatti said that both Kelly and the victim are ‘clearly visible’ throughout the recording, as is an identifying mole on Kelly’s back, and both of them refer multiple times to the girl being 14.
There are two scenes on the video: one apparently in a living room and another in a bedroom. A naked man who appears to be R. Kelly is seen performing multiple sex acts with the girl. She is heard calling him “daddy” multiple times.
It is impossible to know her age just from the video. They both refer to her “14-year-old p***y.”
Six times the girl refers to her genitalia as 14 years old.
At one point, the man asks the girl to urinate. After she does, he urinates on her.

What is on the video mirrors some of the alleged acts for which Kelly was arrested for child pornography in 2002, when he was 35, and then acquitted six years later.
That case centered on another video involving a man having sex with a girl who prosecutors said was as young as 13 years old, media reports said.
Much was made at the trial about the identity of the man on the tape and whether an identifying mole on Kelly was visible on that video.

In the new video reviewed by CNN, a small mole can be seen on the man’s back just to the left of his spine.
Kelly can be heard on the tape directing the girl to perform sex acts, the statement said. The singer also ‘takes great pains’ to adjust the camera to ensure that the acts are recorded ‘with specificity and at a limited distance’.

Cook County State Attorney Kim Foxx asked potential victims to come forward last month after Lifetime aired the documentary ‘Surviving R. Kelly,’ which revisited the allegations against Kelly and put a spotlight on new ones.
Activists from the #MeToo and #MuteRKelly social media movements used the renewed attention to call for streaming services to drop Kelly’s music and promoters not to book any more concerts. They also held protests outside Kelly’s Chicago studio.
Kelly denied all the allegations, and his lawyer, Steve Greenberg, said Kelly was the victim of a TV hit piece . He said Kelly ‘never knowingly had sex with an underage woman, he never forced anyone to do anything, he never held anyone captive, he never abused anyone.’
Avenatti, who said his office is cooperating with Foxx’s office, called Kelly a predator who has preyed on ‘young, vulnerable girls’ for too long.
‘The time has come for him to finally be held accountable for his actions,’ he said.

Avenatti did not say when the video was recorded but said the acts depicted in it are within the Illinois statute of limitations for criminal charges.
Illinois lawmakers in 2017 eliminated all time limits for felony criminal sexual assault and sexual abuse crimes against children.
