Two Texas State University students were found dead at a residence near the campus in an apparent murder-suicide.
The San Marcos Police Department responded to a report of two deceased males at a home off-campus that they shared in the 1400 block of Highland Drive in San Marcos, Texas at 9.30 am on Sunday.
There they discovered the bodies of Matthew Pfluger and Connor Shannon, both 24, were close friends and roommates, KEYE reported.
They added: ‘The perfect combination of kind, goofy, and intelligent, he was a joy to every person that had the opportunity to spend time with him.
‘He was the life of the party, and every room was brighter when he walked in the door. In his free time, Connor enjoyed watching sports, hunting, fishing, and playing video games.
They said he was happiest when spending time with his family and his dog, Champ.
The family added: ‘Connor never met a person that he didn’t welcome with open arms, and we know that those arms are now wrapped around Jesus.’
An investigation into the murder-suicide is ongoing and have yet to find a motive for the incident. This is the fourth homicide of 2019 and the second murder-suicide incident that San Marcos Police has investigated.
Some of Shannon’s friends told KXAN that Shannon was not confrontational, so they don’t know what would have caused the circumstances of the violent nature of his death.
His friend Erica Gauthier said: ‘Connor was a friend who you can always count on to make you happy, smile, and laugh.
‘He was the light in any room he entered. Just a genuine, sweet, caring soul that you would gravitate to. He will be missed so much.’
Shannon was a junior at Texas State studying electrical engineering. During his time at LTHS in 2011, he was a defensive end on the football team that went on to win the state championship for the fifth consecutive year.
Friends also paid tribute to both men on social media and set up a crowdfunding campaign for the ‘if u care share’ foundation in Shannon’s memory.
A friend wrote on Facebook: ‘Matthew Pfluger you were one of my first friends when my family and I first moved to Austin.
‘You could make anyone laugh and were always such a goofball! You were like a big brother to me, even though I probably annoyed you 95% of the time!I love both of you so much and my prayers go out to both families suffering their loss!.’
