A Georgia man has pled guilty to killing his wife two days after they signed divorce papers.
Byron Whynn, 53, had been accused of killing his wife, 41-year-old Sheryl Murdock in November 2016. The Douglasville man strangled his wife to death on the floor of their bedroom two days after signing divorce papers.
The killing occurred a day after Thanksgiving following an argument over their divorce proceedings.
On April 29, Whynn entered a guilty plea to murder and received a life sentence in prison.

The couple, who had been married about 15 years, shared a home along Georgia Drive and had a 14-year-old daughter, authorities said.
According to the
Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Whynn initially claimed that he choked his wife in self-defense after she pulled a knife on him.
But he later admitted to killing her following the argument.
District Attorney Ryan Leonard, who prosecuted the case, said Murdock was the bread winner of the household and Whynn was upset about having to leave their home once the divorce was finalized.
‘Over time, they had kind of grown apart,’ Leonard told AJC.com.
‘Sheryl had been discussing a divorce for five or six months and he was hesitant to sign the divorce papers. He didn’t want to sign them,’ he added.
Leonard said Whynn ‘saw that his life would be drastically different’ with the divorce.
