Records from federal investigators stating that Geourvon Sears of New Orleans is out on bond after allegedly sending by Kansas City Chiefs safety, multiple threatening texts and phone calls demanding a range from $1.5 to $5 million. According to a federal affidavit, 21-year-old Sears from New Orleans, called Mathieu last month and demanded “$1.5 million deposited into his account,” by April 26.
Mathieu blocked Sears’ number, but Sears then allegedly sent messages to close associates of Mathieu demanding “$5 million by Friday, I’m done talking, emailing TMZ now,” according to records. Sears backed up his demands with threats to tell media that Mathieu had committed sexual assault, according to court documents.

Records show that when Mathieu blocked him on his phone, Sears told Mathieu’s family members days later, “I want $1.5 million by Friday or I am going to kill all you all.” Mathieu’s relatives were in genuine fear for their safety, according to the criminal complaint. Mathieu’s representatives told WDSU that the accused extortionist has mental health struggles. “He’s dealing with a family member who is dealing with a mental health issue,” Denise White of EAG Sports Management told WDSU. “Tyrann is fine. His family is fine. They are getting through.” Mathieu, a New Orleans native and former LSU star, signed in the offseason with the Kansas City Chiefs. The six-year NFL veteran and one-time All-Pro previously played for the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans. WDSU reports that he was in New Orleans for a charity event around the time federal agents were making their case against Sears.
