Police responding to reports of gunshots at around 7pm on Monday entered a house in the 11200 block of Covello Street in the Sun Valley section of Los Angeles and found a 39-year-old woman dead from multiple gunshot wounds.
A man in his 60s, believed to be the female victim’s husband, sustained a single gunshot wound.
The toddler was found unharmed in her playpen, surrounded by toys. She seemed to be unaware of her parents’ violent deaths
The little girl’s child’s mother died of multiple gunshot wounds inside the house in the Sun Valley section of LA.
Officers found the toddler’s father, a man in his 60s, dead from a single gunshot wound
LAPD detectives say it appeared the man shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself.
The couple’s two-year-old daughter was discovered by responding officers unharmed in a bedroom.
‘She was in a safe playpen with toys,’ LAPD Lt. Mike Kodak told ABC Los Angeles station KABC. ‘She didn’t seem to know what was going on, obviously at that age.’
One of the uniformed officers on the scene was seen on video carrying the toddler out of the residence and comforting her outside. She was later taken to a police station.
Police found the diaper-clad toddler in a bedroom inside the house and took her away. The orphaned two-year-old seen in the cop’s arms was later taken to a police station
A neighbor said the girl’s father had recently lost his job and was having marital problems

The family’s next-door neighbor Jaime Vazquez told the Los Angeles Daily News that the husband and wife had lived in the area for more than 10 years.
According to the neighbor, the man had recently lost his job, and police had been called to the home for a domestic dispute involving yelling just five days before the murder-suicide.
Another neighbor said his father had encountered the husband the night before the deadly incident and urged him to seek counseling for his marriage problems.
