Jurors also saw screenshots of text messages sent between the pair a month or weeks before her partially nude body was found outside the couple’s home in Calera.

Defense attorneys for William West, [left] countered the prosecution argument of contention in the marriage by showing the jury other texts exchanged by the couple showing a softer side to the relationship

Josh Charles Robbins, attorney for William West countered the prosecution argument by showing the jury other texts exchanged by the couple showing a softer side, including his client repeatedly referring to his wife as a “sexy momma” — and her sending him back topless and other risqué photos..
Robbins showed dozens more text messages that showed intimacy and love between the couple. Jeff West repeatedly referred to his wife in multiple messages as “sexy momma” and Kat West often sent him photos of herself topless and in provocative positions.

“Your picture is hot as [****],’’ Jeff West responded to one of the photos his wife sent to him and “looking good sexy momma” to another. Kat replies, “Thank you for making me feel sexy. I love you”

In one response, the defendant wrote: “Your picture is hot as (expletive),’’ Jeff West replied to one of the photos and “looking good sexy momma” to another. She replied to him at one point, “Thank you for making me feel sexy. I love you.”
Among the photos tendered by the defense were two taken on Friday, Jan. 12, when police believe Kat West was killed. She was wearing a pink bra, pink multi-colored panties and pink stiletto heels. Jeff West said he had taken them on her phone for her Instagram page or subscription-only adult website.
Jurors also watched a 90-minute video of police questioning Jeff West on the day that his wife’s body was found. West told police that he went to bed after the pair both had about six drinks. Kat West then changed into her lingerie to take photos while he went to bed, William West told police.
The interview focused mostly on the social media accounts Kat West operated, through which she shared provocative photos of herself for a subscription fee.
West told cops his wife’s accounts didn’t bother him, it was a way for her to make money. He said he would take photos of her for her to sell on the sites, he said.
