A 26-year-old mother in Gainesville, Georgia is facing aggravated murder charges after she allegedly slayed her two young children at the weekend before turning the murder weapon on herself, leaving serious injuries’, according to reports.
Berenice Jaramillo-Hernandez, 26, from Gainesville near Atlanta, is accused of stabbing to death Mateo Miranda Jaramillo, five, and his older sister Katherine Miranda Jaramillo, six in the Atlanta suburb on Friday.
Preliminary investigations indicate that ‘Jaramillo-Hernandez killed her children with a knife and then turned the knife on herself, resulting in serious injuries,’ the sheriff’s office said.
She faces two counts each of felony murder, malice murder and aggravated assault.
Hall County Sheriff’s Office have called the incident ‘heartbreaking.’
The young victim’s next of kin has been informed and authorities announced that Jaramillo-Hernandez would be charged.
On Friday afternoon police received a 911 call about a woman who had cut herself and when officers arrived at the house they found the injured mother and the bodies of the two young children.

The sheriff’s office said that the incident was isolated and it was not seeking any other suspects. ‘There is no danger to the community as a result of the incident,’ the sheriff’s office said.
Investigation are ongoing.
