<p>Brazilian funk singer MC Kevin, 23, died Sunday, May 16, after falling from the fifth floor of a Rio de Janeiro hotel.<br>The young musician, born Kevin Nascimento Bueno, was on the balcony of another guest’s hotel room when he plunged to his death in a mysterious incident that remained under investigation Monday, according to police and local media. He was found by a swimming pool and was pronounced dead at a hospital moments later.<br>He was staying on the 11th floor of the building but fell from a friend’s room on the fifth floor, authorities said. . The hotel is located on the outskirts of Barra da Tijuca, in the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro.<br>Police have since questioned Bueno’s friends, his recently wedded wife and members of his production crew, but there was no immediate sign of foul play. <br>Investigators suspect that the singer was possibly tried to jump from the bedroom balcony into the pool, several floors below when he hit his head on the edge of the pool. Brazilian newspaper <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://f5.folha.uol.com.br/celebridades/2021/05/policia-investiga-possivel-tentativa-de-mc-kevin-pular-em-piscina-de-hotel.shtml" target="_blank">Folha de S. Paulo</a> reported.<br>MC Kevin&#8217;s wife, lawyer Deolane Bezerra, friends and the production team who worked with the funkeiro gave testimony in the early hours of Monday, at the 16th DP (Barra da Tijuca), which investigates the case. Police interviewed some had already been heard at the hotel.</p>

<p>Another theory that was under investigation Monday was whether Bueno fell while trying to hide from his wife during a prank. A Brazilian model who was not at the hotel at the time said in a <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://g1.globo.com/rj/rio-de-janeiro/noticia/2021/05/17/policia-investiga-morte-de-mc-kevin.ghtml" target="_blank">since-deleted Instagram story</a> that Bueno’s friends jokingly locked him in a room with several women and that he tried jumping to another balcony when he thought his wife was outside the room.<br>MC Kevin lived in Mogi das Cruzes, but was in Rio because he had done a show at a nightclub in Vila Valqueire, in the West Zone, on Saturday. Local reports suggest that the show was not authorized to break the COVID curfew. The Municipal Public Order Secretariat said that it has already identified those organizers and that the appropriate measures will be taken.</p>

<p>After his a performance in Rio on Saturday night, Bueno, posted a series of photos and videos from the hotel before his death. <br>Some of them showed him with 33-year-old lawyer wife, Deolane Bezerra. The couple <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/COUK3etnYYS/">wed</a> last month in Mexico. <br>Bezerra posted a <a rel="noreferrer noopener" href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CO-YV7vrOd8/" target="_blank">photo of their wedding</a> on her Instagram page Monday with a heartbreaking message to her late husband.<br>“You left and took a piece of me with you,” she wrote. “You were always so incredible&#8230; It’s not fair for you to leave like this. It’s not. It’s not.”<br>The singer began his career in 2013 and often sang about life in Brazil’s shanty towns, or “favelas.” He had more than 1.8 million monthly listeners on Spotify and over 10 million followers on Instagram. His latest album, “Fênix,” came out earlier this year.</p>
