Travis Blake, 29, was arrested in Bar Harbor, Maine, on Thursday for the murders of Karlene Barnett, 55, Dervon Brightly, 36, and Vashawna Malcolm, 22
Police found Malcolm a nursing student who was visiting her godmother for the summer, dead face down on a bed in Karlene’s home on June 24
Barnett and her son were found dead in the basement; she had been stabbed multiple times and he died of a head wound
Blake went on the run afterwards and was tracked down in the coastal Maine town on Thursday, a day after NYPD released his image seeking information Â
He is in the process of being extradited back to New York to face chargesÂ

A New York City man wanted for the brutal triple murder of his girlfriend, her son and their family friend has now been arrested in Maine, a week after the corpses were found decomposing in a Queens home.Â
Travis Blake, 29, was arrested in Bar Harbor, Maine, on Thursday, 500 miles from the Queens home of his estranged girlfriend Karlene Barnett.Â

healthcare worker Barnett, 55, was found dead in the basement of the house on June 24 after a relative called 911.Â
Police entered her home in Queens to find her stabbed multiple times.Â
Her 36-year-old son Dervon Brightly was lying near her dead from an unspecified head injury.
Their family friend Vashawna Malcolm, was found lying face down on a bed inside a second-floor bedroom, her hands bound and tape over her mouth, police said.
She and had been stabbed multiple times there were visible signs of trauma to her body. Barnett’s goddaughter, 22-year-old Vashawnna Malcolm, was a nursing student visiting for the summer from the Caribbean nation of Jamaica, having arrived 10 days earlier.

Investigators believed that the bodies had been in the home for days before their discovery, according to authorities.
After the triple-murders Blake fled the home and traveled to Maine. He was seen leaving the home on surveillance camera footage.Â
He was taken into custody in Maine yesterday and is now being transported back to New York to face charges. A court date has not been scheduled. His motive remains unclear.Â
According to to some sources Blake is a member of the military, but no active or past service record for him has yet emerged.Â
NYPD confirmed that he was in the process of being transported back to New York from Maine.Â
He will then be formally charged.Â

Barnett’s younger son reportedly made the same discovery on June 24. He went to the went to the house at 116-11 on 155th Street on Friday, to check on his family after two days of not hearing from them. He called 911.
The NYPD on Wednesday released a photo of Blake and asked for the public’s help in locating the suspected killer.
Blake, 29, had been dating 55-year-old Darlene Barnett and had stopped at her South Jamaica home to “pick up his property,” the youngest victim, Vashawnna Malcolm, told her brother over the phone last Wednesday, police said.
Blake was arrested in Bar Harbor, Maine, on June 30, a week after the bodies were found in New York. He was taken into custody by members of the Regional Fugitive Task Force and local law enforcement in Maine late Thursday.
Charges were pending Blake’s extradition to New York.Â
