A highly intoxicated driver attempting to flee the scene of a fatal head-on collision he’d caused was rugby-tackled and held down till help arrived. The shocking scene was caught on camera.
The video from the scene of a crash scene in Texas shows the moments a witness chased down the drunk driver, who ran a red light and slammed into a vehicle occupied by an off-duty police officer and his family.
Detective Alex Cervantes died at the scene while his wife and two sons were left with serious injuries.
In the newly released video, the other driver Dylan Molina, 26, is seen attempting to flee the scene after he smashed into the vehicle conveying the Cervantes family.

The video shows a man chase down Molina and holding onto him so he couldn’t escape, while screaming profanities at the drunk driver.
In the video Molina can be seen pacing around the scene of the accident while other witnesses stand around taking the damage in, trying to provide assistance, calling emergency services.
Viewers can see the crashed rental Jeep Molina was driving, as well as other bystanders attempting to break into the car he hit head-on, trying to to pull out Cervantes, his sons and wife who were pinned in the sedan.
After several seconds of pacing, Dylan Molina attempted to flee the scene and took off, running as a bystander recorded the entire situation.

In an interview, Gonzalez the man who stopped the fleeing driver told FOX 4, Dallas, that adrenaline kicked in and he knew what he had to do after witnessing the wreckage.
‘I wanted him down. I wanted him done with. I wanted the cops to be there to get him,’ the man told the local outlet.
In the video, Gonzalez is seen running after Molina, eventually pinning him to the ground, screaming ‘You stay right there, motherf***er!
You see what you did?!’ said Justin Gonzalez, the good Samaritan.
‘You f***ing killed somebody, you motherf***er!’


While speaking with the outlet about the shocking video, Gonzalez offered up an apology for repeatedly using the f-word.
‘I’d like to apologize for my language I was using,’ he said.
‘At that time, I just blacked out. I had the father instincts, the dad instincts. Because two seconds later, it would’ve been my car,’ Gonzalez continued.

Gonzalez said he was traveling right behind the police officer and watched the entire crash in horror.
Instantly, he knew Molina was drunk when he approached him. Gonzalez said his instinct told him the other driver was about to bolt.
‘Something in me was telling me he’s going to run. Something’s not right in the situation. I could feel something was not right in the situation,’ he said.
‘I figured he was still walking behind me. But at that point, it’s when he turned around and started running. At that point when he started running, something clicked again.
‘And I was like what is this man doing? And I just turned around and started going after him,’ Gonzalez recalled.

It is believed that before crashing into Cervantes, Molina had been served eight double vodka Red Bull cocktails and 16 single shots, according to KDFW.
After the deadly collision, a local bartender was arrested in connection to the crash and is facing a misdemeanor charge of allegedly overserving alcohol.
‘Eight doubles, 16 single shots, is more than anybody should have in a three-hour period. Maybe even at all,’ Lake Worth Police Chief J.T. Manoushagian said.

‘Clearly, not in a good place to be operating a vehicle. Clearly intoxicated. He’s holding another one of those double vodka and Red Bull drinks there, and then he simply walks away,’ Manoushagian said.
Molina is serving 15 years in prison following his conviction.
Molina was arrested and charged with intoxication manslaughter and three counts of intoxication assault.
On Jan. 30, he pled guilty and was sentenced to 15 years in prison in Cervantes’ death, 10 years for the injuries inflicted on Cervantes’ wife and children, as well as six months for a previously unknown DWI, all to be served concurrently, officials said.
After the sentencing, Cervantes’ 13-year-old son, Joshua, spoke to Molina before the court.
“You affected my life pretty bad because I no longer have a dad to go home to,” he said, according to a release by the Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney.
“It hurts because my dad won’t be there for me when I graduate college or get married.”
Cervantes’ widow, Priscilla, told Molina in the courtroom: “I lost my best friend and the love of my life, the person I was supposed to grow old with.
‘It’s not gonna bring Alex back, but at least he’s locked behind bars and not able to hurt another family like he did ours,’ Priscilla Cervantes said.
