Vallow’s children and Daybell’s previous wife Tammy were all killed because they stood in the way of the couple’s relationship – Prosecutors

Chad Daybell and Lori Vallow got married in Hawaii. At the time cops were still searching for the kids in Idaho, within weeks of the death of his wife, Tammy Daybell
Chad Daybell, the husband of Arizona ‘Cult mom’, Lori Vallow, searched for the wind direction on the day Vallow’s daughter was last seen alive, the court heard as Vallow’s murder trial continued Monday.
Nine months later the charred remains of Tylee, 16, and her younger brother Joshua, 7, who was fondly called JJ by family, were discovered buried on Daybell’s property, outside Rexburg, Idaho.
Daybell, 54, and Vallow, 49, are charged with killing the kids after they disappeared in September 2019.
Tylee Ryan, 16, and her brother Joshua ‘JJ’, seven, are shown with their uncle, Alex Cox, [right], in what is believed to be the final photo of them, taken during a family trip to Yellowstone National Park on September 8, 2019. Vallow kept collecting and spending the children’s social security and benefits after they died
The State says the doomsday cultists believed the children were ‘zombies’. The pair have pled not guilty, but are being tried separately.
They are further charged over the death of Daybell’s first wife Tammy who died a month after the children went missing. Daybell and Vallow married two weeks after the death of Tammy Daybell.
The last photo that exists of Vallow’s daughter Tylee was taken on September 8, 2019. That same day, Daybell Googled the wind direction.
Nine months after they vanished, the bodies of the young siblings were discovered on June 9, 2020, in shallow graves at the pet cemetery on Daybell’s property in Rexburg, Idaho
He told Tammy that he was planning on burning tree limbs and that he buried a racoon in their pet cemetery after shooting the animal in the yard.
By then, Lori’s son JJ had also gone missing.
On June 9, 2020, the partially burned bodies of JJ and Tylee were discovered buried in shallow graves in the pet cemetery of the Idaho home.
Detective Sergeant David Stubbs told the Ada County Courthouse in Boise today how Google search records were seized from the account firstname.lastname@example.org.
‘On the 8th [of September] in the afternoon hours, the user of this account looked up what the wind direction was going to be for the next day,’ Stubbs told the court.
Prosecutor Rachel Smith asked if anything struck him as significant about the finding.
Stubbs told jurors: ‘It did because of other things that I had learned and that that’s the day that Chad Daybell had said that he was going to burn [tree] limbs and killed a racoon in the yard.’
The detective added that the search reflected the wind was going to be blowing south-southwest.
This wind direction would have blown any smoke across neighboring fields – away from nearby houses.
Tylee was last seen alive during a trip to Yellowstone National Park with Vallow, JJ and Vallow’s brother Alex Cox. The family posed for a picture together during the outing.
Chad Daybell is seen with first wife Tammy who died in in August, 2019, a month after the children went missing. Daybell and Vallow married weeks later. Daybell and Vallow have been charged in her death as well
In the following weeks Lori told people that her daughter was studying at Brigham Young University’s Idaho campus.
Daybell’s texts to his late wife that day which Stubbs referred to on the stand are already a matter of public record from an earlier preliminary court hearing.
He told Tammy: ‘I’ve had an interesting morning! I felt I should burn all of the limb debris by the fire pit before it got too soaked by the coming storm.
‘While I did so, I spotted a big racoon along the fence.
‘I hurried and got my gun, and he was till walking along. I got close enough that one shot did the trick.
‘He is now in our pet cemetery. Fun times!’ he said.

The children were missing for almost a year before their corpses were found buried in Daybell’s yard.
During the opening, prosecutor Lindsey Blake described how charred remains were all that was left of Tylee.
She told jurors: ‘You will hear it explained as a mass of bone and tissue. That’s what was left of this beautiful young woman.’
Tylee’s DNA was later found on a pickaxe and shovel in a shed on the property.
JJ’s body was wrapped in trash bags and duct tape – the tape binding his arms in front of him and wrapping around his head.

‘The defendant and Chad used their self-proclaimed religious teachings to justify their actions to others – their actions from affair to murder.’

Jurors also heard from friends and relatives that Vallow and Daybell believed the children were ‘dark’ and referred to them as ‘zombies’ before they disappeared.
‘Remember, the defendant will remove any obstacle in her way to get what she wants, and she wanted Chad Daybell,’ Blake told jurors.
Prosecutors have accused the defendants of plotting to use life insurance money from Tammy’s death, adding that Vallow kept collecting and spending the children’s social security and benefits after they died.
