Former NFL player Henry Ruggs has been sentenced to three-to-10 years in prison for his role in crash that killed a 23-year-old woman and her dog in November 2021.
The 24-year-old Ruggs was sentenced in Las Vegas courtroom on Wednesday.
Ruggs after authorities accused him of drunkenly slamming his Corvette into the back of Tintor’s Rav-4 in Vegas, initially faced more than 50 years behind bars if convicted,
However, after reaching a deal with prosecutors back in May, Ruggs pled guilty to a single count of felony count of DUI resulting in death and one misdemeanor count of vehicular manslaughter in exchange for a prison sentence that would not exceed 3-to-10 years – he will be eligible for parole following his third year in prison.
Apologizing to the family of Tina Tintor, the woman who died in the accident along with her dog Max Ruggs said: ‘To the parents and family of Ms. Tintor, I sincerely apologize for the pain and suffering my actions the morning of Nov. 2, 2021 have caused you, your family and those who knew Ms. Tina and Max,’ he said in the courtroom, TMZ. reports.
‘I let my family, my teammates and those who believed in me down with my actions and hurt so many.’

Tina Tintor died from thermal injuries due to a motor vehicle collision, along with her dog Max, after Henry Ruggs slammed into the back of her Toyota at 127mph, in a 45mph zone, on November 2, 2021

A coroner ruled that Tintor burned to death in the accident. Ruggs was apparently driving at 156mph seconds before the accident and slammed his Corvette into Tintor’s Toyota Rav-4 on the Vegas strip, at 127mph, on November 2, 2021. 
The speed limit in the area was 45mph and Ruggs had a blood-alcohol level twice legal limit when he crashed at around 3:30am. His girlfriend, Je’nai Kilgo-Washington, was injured in the crash.
Hours before the crash, Ruggs was filmed partying at a TopGolf in Vegas.

Ruggs, who played as a wide receiver for the Raiders, could conceivably play in the NFL again after Wednesday’s sentencing. 
The Raiders released him after the collision on November. Ruggs was the first-round Draft pick for the team in 2020, from Alabama. 
He grew up in Montgomery, Alabama, and won an NCAA championship with the Crimson Tide before he was drafted by the Raiders in 2020. 
He signed a four-year rookie contract reported to be worth more than $16million and had been emerging as a star NFL player before the crash. Records show he bought a $1.1million home in April 2021, not far from the scene of the crash. 
Ruggs who shares a three-year-old daughter with Kilgo-Washington, addressing the court said, ‘I pledge to be the father and the man God intended me to be,’ before being led away in handcuffs to begin his sentence.
Ruggs was picked by the Raiders in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft … and had started 19 games in his two seasons with the team. The ball club released him following the accident.
