Morris, was infuriated after finding out Shelby County DA Steve Mulroy would not be charging the officers, on the basis that Horton herself was armed at the time

The fiancé of a mother-of-three who was shot nearly 20 times by Tennessee officers have slammed the department for not charging the cops who killed her. Ironically the complainant is the one who brought her behavior on the day to the attention of law enforcement officers, before what was meant to be a wellness call following a domestic dispute, ended tragically having turned to an avoidable shooting exercise for the responding officers.
About two hours before the fatal shooting, Horton pulled a shotgun on her fiancé before she took off in the car, according to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.
It happened Saturday March 20, in Bartlett at Ellis Road near Golden Valley Lane after Melissa Horton was chased by deputies. The

The chase began somewhere in Shelby County before Horton was fatally shot.When she was eventually boxed in, the deputies approached her vehicle, shouted, and shot her multiple times. Horton died at the scene.
Chilling bodycam footage of the incident, recorded from multiple angles shows what appears to be a long gun appear through Horton’s window, before the officers unleash a barrage of gunfire that hit the 43-year-old through the driver’s seat window.
Her heartbroken fiancé, Preston Morris, was furious when he found out District Attorney Steve Mulroy would not be charging the cops – on the basis that Horton herself was armed at the time.

The reason Horton was stopped by police was because Morris had called them earlier that day to report the mom had pointed a gun at him during a domestic dispute over her drinking problems.  
Morris said: ‘To shoot her 15-16 times, a mother of three beautiful kids, 43-year-old woman, and just gun her down like she’s a freaking convict that just robbed a bank, like my goodness.
‘They didn’t have to go in there gung-ho and gun her down like a dog. 
‘That’s the only thing that bothers me.’ 

Horton’s fiancé Preston Morris, [left], who called cops after she pointed a gun during a domestic dispute said, ‘I think that [they deputies that shot her], will have to live with that for the rest of their lives and I think that’s going to be punishment enough because I know they can’t sleep at night, those two that shot her’

District Attorney Mulroy said that Horton pulled a gun on Shelby County deputies after she was pulled over.
He said: ‘The video shows that, unfortunately, she lifted a shotgun and pointed it towards one of the deputies, so she was armed, and that was one of the main reasons why we decided that criminal charges against the officers or the deputies were not warranted.’ 
In the footage, the deputy can be hears shouting: ‘Get out the truck. Get the f*** out the truck. Get the f*** out this motherf****ing truck.’ 
Another shouts: ‘Let me see your hands.’

Morris, her fiancé, said about the deputies that shot her: ‘I think that they’ll have to live with that for the rest of their lives and I think that’s going to be punishment enough because I know they can’t sleep at night, those two that shot her.’
One friend of Melissa wrote on social media following her death: ‘My family and I wish to express our sympathy and prayers to the family and sweet children of Melissa Shamburger Horton , in the tragic circumstances surrounding her death. 
‘Our promise from God is that soon we will live in a world with no pain, death or evil and will share in His love for each other forever.’

District Attorney Steve Mulroy stating that none of the officers at the scene will be charged, the Shelby County District Attorney Steve Mulroy ruled, because Horton ‘had a gun’, has angered her loved ones

Another said: ‘Praying for the family of Melissa Shamburger Horton. 
‘3 beautiful little girls that lost their mother to early. She was always so nice the times I was at pageants with them. Praying that God will give them peace. Rip Melissa.’
A third said: ‘My heart goes out to her children who she loved so much. 
‘Such a sweet and beautiful person of whom was friends with my daughter for 33 years . Melissa is at peace now.’ 

One friend of Melissa said: ‘I know heaven gained a great soul but I already miss you so much here on Earth. Until we meet again, my friend’

And another friend wrote in tribute: ‘Heartbroken + empty are both an understatement. I am still in disbelief trying to come to terms with this tragedy.   
‘You were such a warrior with a genuine heart of gold. Even through hardships, you always gave life your all. I hate I missed the opportunity to have lunch with you again last month but I am grateful I got to see you on Thursday. 
‘Time is a thief & you really never know when you’ll last see someone. I am truly saddened realizing I’ll never get another call, text, hug or compliment from someone as special as you ever again. 
‘I am typically the friend to check on everyone else first but I love the fact that you always thought of me, too. 
‘I know heaven gained a great soul but I already miss you so much here on Earth. Until we meet again, my friend.’
