Haunting video footage shows the final moments before a Las Vegas medical assistant was allegedly kidnapped and killed by a former NBA minor league player and his girlfriend.
Chance Comanche, 27, played in the NBA G-League star for the Stockton Kings prior to his December 15 arrest. He faces murder and kidnapping charges in the December 6 death of 23-year-old Marayna Rodgers. 
Comanche was indicted by a grand jury on March 11, along with his co-defendant 19-year-old Sakari Harnden. Following their initial court appearance in Sacramento in December, the suspects were extradited to Nevada to face charges of kidnapping and murder.

Marayna Rodgers, a 23-year-old medical assistant from Lakewood, Washington, was reported missing on Dec. 7, two days after detectives said she was killed following her encounter with Chance Comanche and Sakari Harnden in Las Vegas.
The grand jury saw images from the rocky makeshift grave where Rodgers’ body was found. The bloodied remains had been stripped then left in a grave covered by rocks.
More footage from a local grocery store show the suspects -Comanche and Harnden – casually shopping together just hours after the killing in which they both participated, according to investigators.

Police in Las Vegas said Rodgers, a medical assistant, was choked to death early December 6. 
Comanche, a 6-foot-10 power forward and center, was dropped following his arrest by NBA G League team Stockton, the minor league affiliate of the Sacramento Kings.
In the footage shot by Sacramento’s KCRA, Comanche is seen in a cramped cell as he waives his extradition to Nevada.
According to the court documents, Rodgers had traveled to Las Vegas for prostitution, and Harnden also worked as a prostitute. Both were previously friends and had planned to meet up for a prostitution double date.

A day prior to the murder, the Stockton Kings played the G League team Henderson Ignite in Las Vegas. Comanche police said plotted the murder during the game and the killing happened in the hours after the game.
Posing as a sex-work customer he lured Rodgers to her death, according to the court documents.
The set-up that involved Comanche posing as a “trick” where she could earn $1,000 on that one date.
The After the murder the plan was to bury the body in the Nevada desert.
The suspect ultimately made a full confession to police, according to the arrest warrant.

In one text message exchange obtained by police, Comanche shared a coffin emoji with Harnden.
‘I can snap her neck or just strangle the [expletive],’ Comanche allegedly wrote in a group chat obtained by police.
Comanche allegedly told investigators he was following Harnden’s instructions when he lured Rodgers to her death and later killed her by strangulation.
He and Harnden met on a dating app more than a year ago, and although their relationship lasted only a few months, they have remained in touch, according to police.

Harnden and Rodgers were friends in Washington state, where the latter was working as a medical assistant. However, Harnden recently became upset with Rodgers for telling others that the 19-year-old had implicated her own [Harnden’s] former boyfriend in a double murder in California, according to police.
Rodgers and her boyfriend, identified as Tremaine, traveled to Las Vegas from Washington on Dec 1, with the intent of ‘engaging in prostitution,’ according to the police report.
Learning of their trip, Harnden allegedly plotted with Comanche to lure Rodgers away from Tremaine and her other traveling companions in Las Vegas so they could kill her.

Pretending to be a prostitution client or ‘trick,’ Comanche called Rodgers to a meeting place, where he strangled her with an HDMI cord with some help from Harnden, police claim. The pair allegedly ditched Rodgers’ body in Henderson.
‘While Chance used the cord to strangle Marayna, Sakari hand both of her hands on the neck of Marayna choking her,’ read the arrest warrant.
Chance said once he stopped strangling Marayna he released the tension in the cord, but Sakari continued choking her.
‘Once Marayna was unresponsive, both Sakari and Chance began checking her neck for a pulse as well as touching her to see if she was still breathing. Chance made reference to fluid coming out of Marayna’s mouth which caused them to believe Marayna was dead.’

The pair then drove around looking for a place to dump the body before ultimately finding a ditch and covering Rodgers’ corpse with rocks, according to police.
‘Both Sakari and Chance removed Marayna from the car and placed her in the ditch and began covering her body with rocks,’ read the warrant. ‘Chance admitted to using a towel to move the rocks so their DNA could not be traced.
‘Chance was asked what happened to Marayna’s belongings and he said Marayna’s cell phone was smashed by a rock and placed inside Sakari’s car with Marayna’s other belongings.’
During his police interview, Comanche pointed out the location on a map where Rodgers’ body was later found in a ditch covered by rocks.
Admitting that he had plotted with Harnden to kill Rodgers, Comanche told his police interviewers that and that he had first tried to hire a friend for the hit at a price of $3,000, but that person was not interested.
After the killing, Harnden and Comanche returned to his hotel room before Comanche eventually left the room to get on his team bus.
During Harnden’s interview with police, she did acknowledge meeting Rodgers for a prostitution date and confirmed that Comanche was in the back seat of her car when they met up.
She was also among those who reported Rodgers missing to police and had claimed that Rodgers left in an Uber to meet another date before going missing. That versions proved to be false when Las Vegas police contacted Uber to corroborate the claim.
