Authorities in Florida have identified the teenager who gunned down his father before executing his mother in front of horrified cops as Christos Alexander Themelis, 19, The killer later died in shootout with law enforcement on Saturday night.

Deputies were called to the family’s home in Tampa by his mom Rebecca Themelis, 48, who informed them her husband Christos Byron Themelis, 51, had been shot.
Sheriff’s deputies then received what they described as a frantic 911 call from Rebecca, who told dispatchers that her son had shot her husband. Dispatchers could hear gunfire in the background.

The attempts by officers to talk the teenager down during the ensuing standoff was caught on bodycam.
In a shocking development, the suspect then shot his mom in the back of the head before opening fire on the police. One deputy was hit in the leg.
The younger Christos was later found dead inside the property from injuries sustained during the shootout.
Themelis’ Facebook profile suggests he was close with his mom and features several photos of the two of them together, including his profile picture.
His bio reads: ‘I’m a country boy and my moms a country girl. Are there still country folks anymore? Probably not.’

The shooter’s parents, Rebecca and Christos Themelis, had been married since 2000. According to his profile Themelis Sr ran his own moving business.
Dramatic body camera footage caught the stand-off between the suspect and the deputies, beginning when they arrived on the scene and found him outside with his mother.
‘Show me your hands, show me your f****** hands,’ Deputy Shane McGough, 26, could be heard yelling.

McGough is then heard pleading with Rebecca to ‘get out of the house now’ and walk towards him, holding his gun drawn before radioing in, ‘he’s got her at gunpoint.’
‘Listen, we don’t want to hurt you, just let your mom walk to us, let her walk to us OK?’ McGough tells the suspect, repeating his instructions to ‘keep your hands up’ and ‘do not reach behind your back.’
As he apparently retreats to go and grab his gun, McGough once again pleads with the mother to ‘walk to me, walk into my flashlight.’
Seconds after begging the suspect to ‘stop reaching into your waistband’, gunshots can be heard in the bodycam footage as both sides exchanges fire.
McGough was struck in the leg, yelling ‘I’ve been hit’ at his fellow officers and asking for a tourniquet.

Five deputies returned fire, causing the suspect to retreat into his home, the sheriff’s office said.
At that point, authorities deployed a SWAT team, and deputies used a robot to enter the home through the front door.
‘Unfortunately the first person we encounter on the ground is the father,’ Sheriff Chad Chronister said at a news conference.
‘The father had succumbed to his injuries.’
‘The monster we encountered this evening is responsible for not only injuring our deputy but also killing his own mother and father,’ he said in a statement.
‘Our deputies responded to a chaotic scene and immediately put themselves in harm’s way to protect our community.

Tampa police responded to a Tampa home just after 11pm on Saturday when a woman reported her husband was shot. Tragically the woman was also shot dead, in their presence, by the same shooter – her teen son

‘Without our deputies’ quick and skillful response, an entire neighborhood would have been in danger.’
Deputy McGough was rushed to hospital.
McGough who suffered a fractured bone in the leg is now in stable condition after surgery on Sunday to remove the bullet, then insert a rod into his leg to help regrow the tibia.
