A wealthy Texas attorney was killed by his wife before turning the gun on herself at their mansion on Wednesday morning, police in Bexar County said.
Responding officers walked into the property just before 8amon Wednesday morning after receiving reports of gunshots and discovered Jerry Hernandez, 61, and his wife Sonia Hernandez, 52, both found dead at the $1.6 million property in the Shavano Park.
The County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death of Jerry Hernandez was a homicide, while the death of Sonia Hernandez was ruled as a case of suicide.
It remains unclear what triggered the apparent murder-suicide.

According to an online profile for Hernandez, he has worked as a lawyer for over thirty years having worked in personal injury after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 1985 from the University of Texas in Austin, then earning his law degree from California Western School of Law in 1988.
In 2017 he was named a top personal injury lawyer by S.A. Scene Magazine. His wife Sonia reportedly owned a beauty boutique.
The couple are parents to 25-year-old daughter, Bianca Rose.
