Disturbing footage shows the moment a California man accused of decapitating his parents and their dog started singing ‘What’s Love Got To Do With It’ while covered in blood on the ground – before being shot by police.
Joseph Brandon Gerdvil, 41, sang the Tina Turner hit as he lay bleeding out after Orange County Sheriff deputies shot him several times in the torso on July 9, outside the San Juan Mobile Estates, located in San Juan Capistrano, California.
The disturbing interaction came moments after the cops discovered the headless bodies of his parents – Ronald Gerdvil, 77, and Antoinette Gerdvil, 79, along with their mutilated dog inside their mobile home.
The disturbing footage shows officers intercepting the double-homicide suspect in the middle of a road. Ignoring police orders Gerdvil charged toward them on foot while babbling incoherently, an unidentified object in one hand.
An officer shouted at him several times to get on the ground, but Gerdvil did not comply.

The first three bullets had little effect on Gerdvil, who continued approaching them.
The fourth shot dropped him to the ground with blood pouring from his abdomen.
Cops shouted at Gerdvil to roll onto his stomach.
Finally, he obeys and moments later Orange County Sheriff deputies rushed over to render aid.
Even as he struggled for his own life Gerdvil continued muttering: “I love you. I’m sorry you’re going to have to die.”
Then, he made a sad plea: “Just finish me off,” the 41-year-old muttered moments later, adding, “Put one in my head, please. I beg of you.”

As cops rushed to cover his wounds, Gerdvil started belting out love songs.
‘What’s love got to do with it, got to do with it? What’s love but a second-hand emotion?’ he sang from the 1984 Tina Turner hit, before starting a Stevie Wonder song.
‘I just called to say I love you,’ he sang from the track of the same name, also from 1984.
Cops intercepted Gerdvil after he allegedly attacked a maintenance worker following the murders of his parent.
Moments before the bodycam footage begins, the suspect threw a heavy shovel at officer,s police said. The shovel can be seen lying on the ground nearby.
Orange County Sheriff’s Department said Gerdvil was taken to the hospital and stabilized.
He has been charged with homicide over the deaths of his parents.

Neighbors at the San Juan Mobile Estates in Orange County, described the deceased family as ‘friendly and quiet‘
A motive for the brutal decapitations remains unclear, but neighbor David Desmond said he saw Joseph fighting with his father the day before. He described how Joseph Brandon Gerdvil was ‘in his face’ and ‘looked angry’ while confronting his father.
Another neighbor, Bob Demario, also claimed Joseph ‘had a drug issue.’
‘That’s why he lived there and they kept him there,’ Demario claimed.
Online, Joseph Gerdvil made a number of unhinged posts about Jehova’s Witnesses and posted dissonance music on YouTube – including one a day prior to the murders, entitled Shots Fired and another named Pope on a Rope, with a picture of the pope being hanged.
Other neighbors described the family as friendly and quiet.
