<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A Florida teenager who fled the scene on Monday August 19, after shooting dead his girlfriend&#8217;s father at his home after they got into a heated argument over &#8216;inappropriate&#8217; social media photos, has been charged with murder<br>The shooter, Lawan Jr. Jones, 18, turned himself into cops on Wednesday, August 21, three days after going on the run.<br>Jones witnesses told police, shot his girlfriend Jessie&#8217;s father was shot several times at the front of his own home in Pompano Beach, Florida. 44-year-old Keith Poole, a father of three daughters, was shot in front of his children. <br>Jones was in a relationship with Poole&#8217;s oldest daughter, Jessie, and lived in the home with the Poole family. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Witnesses recounted an argument that ensued after Poole saw social media posts which he thought were inappropriate.<br>According to the arrest affidavit, an argument ensued after Poole &#8216;became aware that the suspect had posted photographs on social media of himself holding a firearm.&#8217;<br>He &#8216;told Jones that it was not appropriate for him to do that while living in his house, and that he would have to leave.&#8217;<br>Jones according to witness accounts, was incensed and &#8216;threatened that he could have his friends come over and &#8221;take care of the problem&#8221;.&#8217;<br>This prompted Poole to once again insist Jones leave his home, guiding the latter to the front door and standing at his doorway.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The affidavit states: &#8216;Jones took several several steps away from the front door, before then turning around. Pulling a handgun out of a satchel slung over his right shoulder and pointing at the victim, &#8216;fired two shots, hitting the victim in the face and chest&#8217;. <br>Jones then fled from the scene with his girlfriend, Jessie Poole.<br>This witness noted that Poole was not being aggressive and posed no physical threat to Jones when he was shot.<br>The arrest affidavit reveals that responding officers arriving around 4:44 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19, saw &#8216;an open front door with blood inside and outside the immediate area of the door.&#8217; Poole, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds was transported by paramedics to Broward Health North, where he was later pronounced deceased. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">After Jones turned himself in at the BSO West Park District Office on Wednesday, he was transported to the Broward County Main Jail and booked on first-degree murder with a firearm.<br>Following the shooting Jones had fled from the home with his girlfriend, Jessie Poole. She was safely located following his arrest, police said.<br>Jones&#8217; Facebook page includes several pictures of and references to Jessie, including photos taken on a &#8216;baecation&#8217; from December 2023, along with a more recent trip to Beachwood, Ohio which includes videos of the couple and a picture of a drawing in the snow of a heart with the letters &#8216;L + J&#8217; in the middle.<br>Tributes have been pouring in for the dedicated father, who has been remembered as an &#8216;amazing human&#8217; who people gravitated toward.</p>
