A father-of-14 from Florida was shot and killed after trying to break up a fight involving a group of teenager girls that included his daughter.
Johnny Stevenson Jr., 47, jumped in to protect his 15-year-old daughter after she called him and said she was in a fight with a classmate on Tuesday. The fight continued off the bus and multiple other children joined in.
The situation took a fatal turn when Stevenson intervened. He was shot in the stomach by Kentarian Cross, 22, from Florida city.
Stevenson’s daughter said: ‘The person who shot my dad pulled my best friend away, then he pulled my momma. That’s when my dad seen him, then the boy shoved my dad. My dad shoved him back and then the boy pulled out a gun and shot him.

‘I seen my dad in the corner of my eye. I seen him fall. I wasn’t really thinking. I see him on the floor, I put pressure on his stomach. My mom, she comes to put pressure on his stomach.’
The father was taken to Baptist Homestead Hospital and was airlifted to Jackson South Medical Center for surgery, but did not survive.
Cross turned himself in and was arrested on Wednesday after several witnesses identified him, police said. He was charged with second-degree murder.
Before Cross turned himself in, police were offering a $5,000 reward to any tip that led to his arrest.

Stevenson’s heartbroken daughter said the fight started verbally, but became physical once the girl she was fighting maced and spit on her.
Video shows that the altercation started on the bus. The girls were seen carrying out hair-pulling attacks and throwing punches.A group of teenagers got involved in the fight as it traveled down the street away from the bus stop. The person recording the fight on their cellphone screamed when the shot was fired and Stevenson fell to the ground.
Homestead Senior High School, where the students go to school, wrote in a statement to CBS: ‘The school’s administration is reviewing the matter, and the students involved will be disciplined according to the Code of Student Conduct.’
Stevenson – known by loved ones as ‘Bobo’ – was a caring father to his 14 children. He enjoyed dirt biking and cherished his family.

Stevenson was described as an excellent father to his 14 children and was well known in his community
‘We looked up to him. All his kids looked up to him – everybody, to be honest. He was just that person,’ the victim’s cousin told Local news outlet, News 10.
He was a highly regarded member of his community. His uncle, Arnold Lloyd told CBS: ‘I mean, so many people loved him.’
Cross who turned himself in an the wake of a $5,000 bounty to help in his arrest. He did not say anything to detectives after his arrest. He made his first court appearance on Thursday and is being held without bond.
