Michaels had been arrested in October of 2022 for child neglect after an employee at a childcare facility noticed bruising on her 8-year-old’s leg.
At sentencing Michaels told the judge that she was not an abusive person, citing her participation in counseling and therapy: ‘I have done counseling classes, therapy, drug tests, psych evaluations. I’ve done everything. Everyone I have spoken to say I am not an abusive person and they don’t feel there is any risk for me to abuse her or would ever do this again,’ she said in court.
Still she was convicted and sentenced to one year of probation after the child apparently told a teacher she was being abused at home.
