A murderer who convicted for killing his mother and brother as a teenager, now aged 43 has been arrested for killing two more people just four months after finishing his sentence, police say.
In April 1994, Dustin Caudill at the age of 15, was charged with killing his mother, 33-year-old Karen Caudill, and his 10-year-old younger brother, Nicholas, in Brandenburg in Meade County.
Police at the time said Caudill shot his brother after an argument. When his mother got home later that night, he then shot her as well.
Caudill, now 43, spent a total of 27 years in prison.
After initially serving 24 years in prison he was released on April 1, 2020. He was back in prison on May 11, 2023 for violating his parole, before he was last released on July 1, 2024.
However, just four months after his release, Caudill murdered Blake France, 41, and Anthony Garret, 43, before burning down a home in Elizabethtown, Police now said.

The victims were found shot dead inside the burned home, leading police to launch an investigation into both arson and murder.
Witnesses said they saw a gold pickup truck leaving the murders scene which led them to Caudill.
The killer was found at a nearby motel and was seen getting rid of a gun, according to police.

Caudill ‘specifically admitted to shooting the victims and intentionally setting fire to the residence,’ according to Elizabethtown police spokesperson Chris Denham.
Cops allege that the suspect confessed to stealing the victims’ wallets and throwing them away at a gas station, as well as trying to shoot a third person.
Caudill is charged with one count of arson to the first degree, two counts of murder, one count of tampering with physical evidence, one count of wanton endangerment to the first degree, one count of robbery to the first degree and one count of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
Cops have yet to share a possible motive for the latest spate of killings.

Back in 1994, Caudill claimed his mother smoked marijuana and beat him, adding his family was always ‘jumping on him and beating on him.’
Caudill told police that on the night of the murders he ‘just snapped.’
‘We was playing some cards and we was talking and then he started acting stupid. He just started acting like a little brother,’ the teenager told police of the moments before he killed his little brother.
