California mother’s affair with younger man ends with three dead after toyboy shoots her and her partner dead near courthouse, on their way to obtain restraining order and cops shoot killer
Rachael Martinez, 32, and Jose Medina, 41, were shot dead in San Diego Wednesday while sitting in their car waiting to enter court
They were, allegedly ambushed by Martinez’s ‘ex-lover Christopher Farrell, a 26-year-old security guard
Martinez, a mother-of-four, had been involved in an affair with Farrell for several weeks, but broke it off when Medina found out in late September
When Martinez met with Farrell and asked him to back off, she alleged their interaction ended in violence
Medina ans Martinez then obtained temporary restraining orders each, against Farrell
Farrell was fired from his job as a security guard at the Metropolitan Transit System office – he was arrested after Martinez alleged domestic violence, false imprisonment and sex crimes in her police report
However, Farrell was released Farrell because police said the ‘case had insufficient evidence and corroboration to immediately move forward’, only to shoot the couple
On Wednesday morning Farrell shot the couple dead as they headed to court to obtain permanent restraint, before fleeing
The fugitive was killed 24 hours after the murders, during a standoff with San Diego police

A San Diego mother’s illicit love affair with a younger man ended in tragedy midweek when the toyboy shot her and her partner dead moments just as they arrived at court to seek a restraining order, against him.
The murdered couple leave four children behind. Rachael Martinez and Jose Medina were together for 12 years. Jose Medina was the father of the two youngest children and raised Rachael Martinez’s older two as his own.
Rachael Martinez, 32, and Jose Medina, 41, were shot on Wednesday morning as they sat in a car a few blocs from the North San Diego central Court House.
According to court documents, mother-of-four, Rachael Martinez had been involved in an affair with 26-year-old security guard Christopher Farrell for several weeks, but broke off the relationship when Medina discovered, in late September.
Martinez alleged in a police report that when she met with Farrell, demanding he back off, their interaction ended in violence. The couple then went ahead to file individual restraining orders against Farrell.

Farrell who was not only fired from his job as a security guard at the Metropolitan Transit System office, he was also arrested after Martinez leveled allegations of domestic violence, false imprisonment and sex crimes in her restraining order on On October 4.
However Farrell was released from jail after police said the ‘case had insufficient evidence and corroboration to immediately move forward’.
The tragedy involving the husband and wife would unfold just days later when the couple returned to court for a hearing over Martinez’s restraining order.

A judge granted Martinez’s restraining order on October 7, and Medina obtained a separate order against Farrell the next day, court documents showed.
Sheriff’s deputies attempted to serve Farrell with the restraining orders at work. But he had already been fired by that time and it is unclear if the orders had been served before the shooting.
On Wednesday morning, Martinez and Medina were scheduled for a hearing over her case at 9am. Police said they received reports of shots fired at 8:22am.
Witnesses told 911 operators the couple were shot dead as they sat in their car on Union Street, around two blocks from the Central Courthouse. The gunman shot fled the scene, but police authorities an urgent manhunt in the area.
A day later, the suspect was spotted by witnesses in Little Italy near a Restaurant. A police helicopter circling above, described the suspect as a man wearing blue jeans, a green shirt and a hat. One witness had seen a man who fit that description crouched behind an electrical box, holding a cell phone.

Double-homicide suspect Christopher Farrell engaged San Diego police in a gunfight during a 90-second standoff in downtown San Diego, on Thursday. He was hit several times and died later in hospital
When approached by Harbor Police officers, a shootout ensued as Farrell reportedly began using the electrical box door as a shield while firing a handgun at officers.
One officer was shot in the hip, before Farrell was shot several times and was mortally wounded. He was hospitalized and died hours later.
San Diego police homicide Lt. Jud Campbell said Thursday that the shootout unfolded rapidly over just 90 seconds. On Farrell’s person, officers discovered magazine clips, a tactical flashlight and folding knives.
The wounded officer is recovering in hospital, and Harbor Police Chief Magda Fernandez said his ‘family are grateful for the support they are receiving and respectfully request privacy at this time as they process and begin healing from this traumatic incident.’
