A Texas GOP politician is in the hospital fighting for her life after a knife attack at her home that left her husband dead.
Denton County Commissioner, Bobbie Mitchell, [R], was stabbed in her Lewisville home during the early morning hours on Monday. Her husband Fred Mitchell was killed in the same attack.
The couple’s grandson, Mitchell Blake Reinacher, has been arrested for the murderous attack.
23-year-old Reinacher is facing charges of murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Officers rushed to the scene at the 1000 block of Springwood Drive just before 4am on Monday after receiving reports of an assault.

Responding officers reportedly, discovered the elderly couple both suffering from stab wounds.
Commissioner Mitchell is currently listed as stable at a local hospital, though the exact details of her condition are unknown at this time. Fred Mitchell was rushed to hospital where he died just after 5am.
The suspect was still at the property and was immediately taken into custody by Lewisville Police.
Their grandson Michael Reinacher was booked into Lewisville jail as investigators continue the investigation.

Mitchell, a former Lewisville City Council member, made history as the city’s first Black mayor when elected in 1993. She’s held that position until January 2000 when she stepped down and successfully ran for her current role of county commissioner.
