‘He was paroled’? – Rapist out on early release charged with attempted murder, after savagely beating NYC mom unconscious, as doctors rate victim’s chances of survival very low

A convicted rapist was arrested by New York police on Friday after he allegedly, for attacking and beating a complete stranger so savagely in a public space, leaving the mom unconscious on Randall’s Island in NYC.
The assault happened a week ago and the twisted fiend called 911 to report the attack himself before fleeing the scene, according to police.

Miguel Jiraud, 30, was out on parole for a rape conviction and was wearing his ankle monitor during the vicious assault that left 44-year-old Diana Agudelo clinging to life, the sources said.
He allegedly ambushed Agudelo and bludgeoned her as she was walking along the bike path at 600 E. 125th St. in New York City, around 11:30 p.m. on May 16.
The victim who was found with serious injuries and taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

Jiraud, who had been living at a shelter on Randall’s Island, was charged with attempted murder, cops said. 
Agudelo suffered facial fractures — including a cracked skull and a broken nose — in what NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny called “one of the worst beatings I’ve ever seen.”
The severely injured victim was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital unresponsive in critical condition.
Agudelo’s daughter, Stephanie Rodas, 21, earlier this week revealed that her mother’s surgeon only gave her a 1% chance of pulling through.

Jiraud, [image], a serial offender with a history of violent crime allegedly called 911 to report the attack on Agudelo before fleeing the scene. Sentenced to 12 years in prison in 2013 for a 2011 rape conviction, he was released in August 2024 on parole, which expires in 2040.

“The doctor said there’s a 99% chance mortality rate with her injuries,” Rodas said.
“We still have faith. I know she’s fighting and there are times where she applied pressure on my hands when I held her hands.”
Agudelo was walking home from her job at the Museum of the City of New York on Fifth Avenue when she was attacked, Rodas said.
She and her brother learned what had happened the following day when their mom’s co-workers came looking for her after she didn’t show up to work.
Agudelo’s e-bike, jacket, glasses and backpack with her wallet inside are all still missing after the attack, she said.

The NYC resident was attacked on her way back from work by a stranger along the bike path at 600 E. 125th St on Randall’s Island. She remains on life support.

The children were stunned, seeing their mother with extensive trauma, unconscious at the hospital.
“She was so swollen you couldn’t even recognize her. I didn’t even recognize my own mother when I saw her,” Rodas said Wednesday.
“She couldn’t even move. She couldn’t talk. She was on life support. She was a bloody mess.”
The suspect’s priors includes a conviction for a February 2011 rape in which he dragged a victim from an elevator at a building in The Bronx, and sexually assaulted her on the roof. Sentenced to 12 years in prison in 2013, Jiraud was released in August on parole, which expires in 2040.
