A man walked into a New York City courthouse and slashed two officers in the neck and face in an what law enforcement described as a targeted attack. The attack happened at the scanner station in the court building main lobby early Monday morning.
Jonathan Wohl, 37, of Queens, ran into the lobby of Manhattan Criminal Court at 100 Center St. around 9:45 a.m. and suddenly ambushed the officers.
The knifeman according to the reports cut one of the officers twice on his face and sliced the other on the neck, before shoving a third officer into a barrier in the main lobby.

Described as an emotionally disturbed person, the assailant according to police, has been a regular problem at the courthouse.
Records show that Wohl has been arrested 18 times in the past, mostly for drugs, but has never served time in a state facility. Only three of those cases remain open, as of today.
Despite not having a scheduled court appearance in Manhattan on Monday, the knife-wielding assailant was at the courthouse on a rampage.

Officers at the scene overpowered and took the Wohl down on the fourth floor of the court building, putting a halt to his stabbing rampage

The knife attack happened early Monday morning in the south lobby of the courthouse on Center Street in Lower Manhattan

Wohl was then taken into custody on the fourth floor of the courthouse.
Several Court Officers immediately rushed in, subdued the assailant near a bank of magnetometers, disarmed him, and took him into custody.
The motive for the attack is yet to be known. The assault was captured on surveillance video, and a criminal investigation is underway by the New York State Unified Court System in collaboration with law enforcement.
