A young crew member described by friends as a ‘golden girl’ is believed to have been murdered while working on a superyacht in the Bahamas.
Paige Bell, 20, from Johannesburg, South Africa, who working as a stewardess on the vessel ‘Far From It’ was found dead on board while was docked at Harbor Island last week, police confirmed.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force arrested a 39-year-old Mexican national who has been charged with murder in the knifing incident. He is expected to appear in court today, July 9.
Bell from the South African city of Durban, was due to turn 21 on July 14. Her family had planned a huge celebration to mark her milestone birthday on her return to Durban. But on July 3, the popular stewardess tragically lost her life in on the job.

Police conducting a wellness check on the yacht found Paige [photo], unresponsive in the engine room with visible injuries, before a doctor attended the scene and confirmed she had died 

Paige, from Johannesburg, South Africa, was described as a ‘golden girl’ by friends and worked as a guest relations officer on the $13million charter yacht, Far From It.
Police were alerted to an incident at the marina just after 1pm last week Thursday, boarded the 43-metre yacht, where they were told that the young crew member had not been seen for a short period of time.
Cops found Paige unresponsive in the yacht’s engine room with visible injuries, before a doctor attended the scene and confirmed she had died. 
Paige’s dead body was reportedly found on the floor. Her shipmate was lying close to her covered in blood with a knife in his hand, The suspect still alive but bleeding heavily, with both his wrists slashed, in what police suspected was a botched suicide..
The suspect was treated at a nearby clinic and subsequently charged with murder.

The circumstances surrounding Paige’s death are still under investigation, police said.
Built in 2008, Far From It is a charter yacht comprising of five suites, charging wealthy clients between $135,885 and $163,062 per week for vacations. 
It can host up to 10 guests and is staffed by nine permanent crew, according to its website.
Paige had previously worked on board the Motor Yacht Sweet Emocean as a crew member until December 2024.

Her former colleagues paid tribute in a post shared with a GoFundMe page set up to help ‘ease the financial burden’ faced by the family.
It said that she was set to celebrate her 21st birthday on July 14. Tragically, she was murdered 11 days short of her coming of age party.
In her honor, her mother is said to have asked that ‘we all eat red velvet cake (her favorite) on that day and share a photo in remembrance of the beautiful soul she was’.
The GoFundMe page started by her fellow crew members, designed to help her family with expenses has raised nearly $43,000 of the $16,000 target.
