“RUN. HIDE. FIGHT”, students at Emory University’s Atlanta Campus were urged after an active shooter was reported on Friday

A law enforcement officer was injured after an active shooter was reported at Emory University’s Atlanta campus on Friday. The school urged all students to shelter in place.
“Active shooter on Atlanta Campus near Emory Point,” the college posted in a terrifying post on X on the last day of summer term.
“RUN. HIDE. FIGHT,” the post continued.
A separate post noted the shooting was near the Emory Point CVS.
The Atlanta Police Department said it was responding to reports of an active shooter near 1760 Clifton Road, close to where the CVS referred to in the alert is located.

The Atlanta Police Department said the suspect is now dead after officers reportedly encountered a suspect and attempted to engage the person resulting in the exchange of gunfire.
Around 4:50 p.m police became aware of the heavily armed suspect, who was located on the roof of the Emory Point CVS, after shots were fired. Cops located the suspected shooter on the second floor of the building, and he had been hit by gunfire. It has not be established whether the suspect was hit by an officer’s gunfire or his injury was self inflicted.
A rapid barrage of gunfire was heard in horrifying social media videos as police and first responders raced to the scene.
A local resident heard eight gunshots ring out, followed by a brief pause, then more than a dozen shots sounded in rapid succession.
A DeKalb police officer was ambushed, shot and killed in the incident Friday, sources confirmed.

Shooter was removed from the store by Atlanta Fire Rescue so medics could attempt lifesaving aid. He died at the scene.

A heavy police presence was seen surrounding Emory Point and the main campus of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Chilling photos shared online showed bullet holes piercing the windows of the CDC headquarters, located right next to the university.
One police cruiser at the scene also appeared to have been hit by multiple gunshots to its front end.

The school campus is located near the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) headquarters. A building at the CDC headquarters was seen riddled with bullets.
The shooter was removed from the store by Atlanta Fire Rescue so medics could attempt lifesaving aid. He died at the scene. One photograph shows a figure lying lifeless on a stretcher beside an ambulance surrounded by dozens of police officers.
