Rising country music star Spencer Hatcher’s mother Holly was stabbed to death by a stranger during a horrific invasion of her Virginia home.
A teacher in rural Virginia Holly Hatcher, 62, was killed when Kevin Moses Walker, a complete stranger from neighboring Maryland, broke into her family home in Rockingham County, Virginia, armed with a knife on August 3.
Her husband Michael Hatcher, 65, who had visible injuries from an altercation with the intruder, managed to shoot the intruder with a handgun in an apparent act of self-defense, police said.
Law enforcement in Rockingham County believe 41-year-old Walker who died at the scene targeted the Hatcher family in a ‘completely random’ attack.

Police are still investigating a motive for the brutal attack. Walker had no known history of violent or criminal behavior in any other jurisdiction.
No charges will be filed in the case since Walker is dead, but police are continuing to investigate the incident.

Investigators believe Walker killed Holly after he reportedly wreaked havoc on a RV resort in the Shenandoah Valley.
Walker checked in to a rented campsite at Endless Caverns, a RV park tucked into the Shenandoah Valley mountainside, on August 1. Following a tour of the caverns around 3pm, he was at a local Walmart less then three hours later to purchasing a sleeping bag and a large knife.
His vehicle was found abandoned on Endless Caverns Road the next morning after he allegedly rammed it into a store at the RV park. He’d entered both the store and the caverns, but did not steal anything, police said.
Patrol vehicles and a drone were deployed to the area, but the hunt for Walker proved unsuccessful, until Michael Hatcher called cops were called to his home at 11.58pm on August 3 to report a home invasion.
Responding officers found Walker dead in the driveway. Michael Hatcher had visible injuries, but his wife discovered in the residence, dead with multiple stab wounds.

‘There’s going to be questions that will never be answered, but all I can tell you is we’ve cried, we’ve hurt, and we’ve hugged, and we have found more love than we have ever known has existed between us, and between you,’ Michael Hatcher said during a press conference on Saturday.
Country star Spencer Hatcher, one of the couple three sons, confirmed the incident on his Instagram account, posting: ‘It is with a heavy heart and overwhelming sadness that – due to a monumental loss in our family — I must cancel my upcoming shows at VOA Country Music Fest in Butler County, OH (8/8) and at Rockingham County Fair in Harrisonburg, VA (8/11 &8/12).’
Hoping to reschedule the shows in the future he thanked everyone who ‘lent their support to me and my loved ones’, while asking fans to ‘please respect our family’s privacy at this time’.
The Rockingham County Public Schools District issued a statement on Facebook, saying: ‘We are heartbroken by the loss of a dedicated educator who served our RCPS community with unwavering commitment.’
