The man accused of mass shooting in the parking lot of a Target in Austin, Texas, on August 11, claiming the lives of two adults and a child, was identified Tuesday.
Ethan Nieneker, 32, allegedly gunned down the victims at Target on Research Parkway in Austin on Monday afternoon before fleeing in a stolen vehicle. He crashed the first car, then stole another car to continue his flight from police.
Nieneker, who cops had earlier described as having a “mental health history,” could only being detained with the help of a Taser when pursuing law enforcement eventually caught up with him on the other side of the city of Austin, after a 20 mile chase.

City of Austin police officers investigate the scene of the fatal shooting on Monday at the Target on Research Parkway that left two adults and a child dead
The tragic events began when the man now known to be mentally unstable stormed the parking lot of the Target just north of Austin with a firearm, around 2:15 p.m. on August 11 and proceeded to open fire on shoppers in the lot.
Three people were killed and a fourth victim, who suffered unrelated injuries, was treated at the scene, police said, before the shooter then fled the scene in one of the slain victims’ cars.
The mugshot released Tuesday showed blood oozing from a gash under one of his eyes, as well as several scratches across his face, police said Nieneker is facing multiple murder charges..
