By the accounts of the Atlanta Police Department, a father of 20 who was shot dead last month near a bus station, was killed while carrying out an armed robbery,
D’Anthony Reaves, 44, was fatally shot at 5.24am on July 19 near the Greyhound station near downtown Atlanta by an unnamed individual.
Responding police officers and medical personnel on arrival at the scene and found Reaves with multiple gunshot wounds.

D’Anthony Reaves was pronounced dead at the scene.
Initially Atlanta police stated that they have a person of interest in custody, while the family called for greater action and accountability.
Nearly a month later, homicide detectives said they discovered Reaves ‘was in the commission of an armed robbery when he was fatally shot’.

Reaves’ family believe he was shot by someone while getting off the bus.
‘I could not process what happened,’ a loved one told Channel 2. ‘Then they told me he got shot in the face twice, and that made it so much worse.
‘I swear that whole neighborhood could’ve heard me [scream].’
Family and friends gathered in his honor the night of his death for a candlelight vigil at a local park just steps away from where he lost his life.
Reaves had 12 biological children and eight stepchildren. For Cheryl Heart, the mother of one of his children, his death is ‘really heartbreaking.’
