A Texas mother was shot dead outside a PetSmart after confronting a young woman who ‘failed to say thank you’ when she held the door open for her.
Cecilia Simpson, 41, was killed after the argument with the assailant, who allegedly fired multiple bullets at her in Dallas’s Oak Cliff neighborhood on Tuesday. 
The suspect, Keona Zachyua Hampton, told police she was ‘just trying to get Simpson away from her,’ according to the arrest affidavit.
Hampton, 22, who was arrested hours later, is held the at Dallas County Jail on a murder charge. Her bond hearing is pending.

The dispute erupted early Tuesday afternoon as Simpson and her 20-year-old daughter left a Five Below, in the same shopping center as PetSmart, according to the arrest affidavit. 
Simpson held the door for the suspect on her way out.
Hampton allegedly brushed it off the gesture without saying ‘thank you,’ according to the affidavit. 
Simpson scolding Hampton for her rudeness led to an argument, before the older woman and her daughter walked back to their car and drove a short distance to PetSmart.
Spotting Hampton heading toward the same store moments later, Simpson dashed inside and told a store employee that she was being followed.

Hampton allegedly, stormed into PetSmart, argued with Simpson’s daughter, left, and then came back just minutes later. As a heated argument ensued between Simpson and Hampton inside the store, employees asked the pair to leave.
As mother and daughter as they made their way to their car parking lot, the suspect trailed them. Hampton allegedly, hurled a drink bottle at Simpson’s car as she and her daughter climbed inside, sparking yet another argument.
Authorities said that Simpson immediately walked out of the car and charged at Hampton, resulting in physical altercation.Simpson’s daughter alleged that during the brawl, her mother hit Hampton multiple times while yelling for her to leave them alone.

One witness to the parking lot brawl, a 27-year-old ER nurse leaving the store sensed danger and stayed nearby, reports hearing ‘The shooter saying, “Come outside. Let’s handle this outside. Let’s fight outside,” while Simpson and her daughter ‘were just telling her to go away.’
‘The mother and daughter tried to get in the car to de-escalate the situation but the lady wasn’t having it,’ the witness added. 
That’s when, she claimed, the altercation turned deadly.

Just seconds after Simpson’s daughter stepped aside, Hampton allegedly brandished a black-and-silver handgun and fired three shots, Simpson lay bleeding on the ground.
As the ER nurse leapt into action, performing CPR on Simpson, Hampton immediately fled the scene. 
Dallas Fire-Rescue arrived and transported Simpson who had multiple gunshot injuries to Methodist Central Hospital. She was pronounced dead shortly after.
Dallas police launched an investigation and recovered surveillance footage showing the shooter driving away from the shooting scene in a black Ford Five Hundred.

After reviewing cellphone video of the shooting, which captured both the argument and the gunfire Dallas Police Tuesday evening stopped the black Ford captured on surveillance video driving away and arrested the suspect. Allegedly, she, admitted to the shooting

Authorities traced the address from the registered driver’s license, staked out the property, and eventually spotted Hampton on the apartment balcony wearing the same clothes seen in the surveillance footage.
The arrest affidavit revealed that police also obtained a cellphone video of the shooting, capturing both the heated argument and the gunfire.
Investigators said that the cellphone video clearly showed the suspect, armed, swiftly walking away from Simpson, who was sprawled out on the ground. 
Simpson’s daughter alleged that during the physical altercation, her mother hit Hampton multiple times while yelling for her to leave them alone.
Later that evening, at roughly 7.45pm, officers stopped the black Ford Five Hundred captured on video driving along Trail Glen Drive. They subsequently escorted Hampton to Dallas Police Headquarters for an interview.

She also admitted to throwing a bottle at Simpson’s car as they tried to leave, but said she only drew and fired her gun when the witness got involved, according to the affidavit. That she shot Simpson simply because she was ‘trying to get her away.’
