American Idol star Caleb Flynn sobs AGAIN as court is told how he allegedly murdered wife he was cheating on, with FBI investigator sharing odd detail at crime scene that raised his suspicions

Flynn, 40, is accused of fatally shooting his wife Ashley, 37, inside their Tipp City, Ohio, family home on February 16

Caleb Flynn is facing charges of murder relating to the fatal shooting of his wife Ashley with whom he shares two daughters inside their Tipp City, Ohio, family home on February 16

Former American Idol contestant Caleb Flynn has broken down in tears again as jurors were told grisly details about how his wife was found dead during the second day of his murder trial. 
Flynn, 40, has plead not guilty to several charges relating to the fatal shooting of his wife Ashley, 37, inside their Tipp City, Ohio, family home on February 16.
The defendant who on air gushed about how much he loved his wife when he competed as a reality show contestant in 2013, so far has sobbed through the trial.
After allegedly shooting his wife, prosecutors allege then called 911 and told the dispatcher: ‘Somebody broke into my home – somebody broke into my home and shot my wife.
Charged with aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault and tampering with evidence, he has pled not guilty to all charges.
During day two of his trial, jurors were shown photographs depicting how Ashley was found dead in her bed. The images were introduced by David Hammond of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation during his testimony. 
Screwing up his face in apparent anguish, Flynn sobbed as the harrowing images were tendered in court.
‘This is a photograph, it shows the overall positioning of Ashley,’ Hammond told the court. 
‘It just shows a white towel that was behind her head. You’ll see some reddish stain, which was suspected blood, and her body is covered by a white comforter’. 
Describing another photograph, Hammond added that ‘a large amount of blood had saturated the pillow and the sheets below her’.
Ashley was found dead in the home on February 16, after Flynn told law enforcement that there had been a break-in at the residence.

Authorities later arrested Flynn and also accused him of staging the crime scene to mislead investigators and charged him on several counts related to the killing
He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
On day two of Flynn’s trial, Hammond also described all the clues which led investigators to believe the break-in had been staged.
‘The one thing that looks fairly unusual was that in the soft wood of the doorframe, I didn’t notice any marks,’ he told the court. 
‘If you’re going to force a door open, typically what you do is you take a pry tool, and you insert it between the door and the frame, and the idea is to create leverage… to force the door open. 
‘So typically in burglaries we see the receivers displaced, and we see a tool mark in this area (soft wood of doorframe).’
‘I couldn’t find any damage with the deadbolt itself,’ Hammond added. 
‘Both of the locks were unlocked when I examined them, which was really curious. 
‘There was no evidence that I could see that a ply tool had been inserted between the door and the doorframe.’
Hammond added that normally when screws are plied from doorframes, they normally take pieces of wood with them. ‘We did not see that here,’ he told the court.

Ashley was found dead in the home on February 16, after Flynn told law enforcement that there had been a break-in at the residence. The couple’s young daughters were at home at the time of the killing, according to the police report 

Flynn’s trial started on Friday with opening statements from prosecutors highlighting over 100,000 messages he sent to a woman he was having an affair with. 
It is in these text messages that prosecutors claimed Flynn, who competed on American Idol talent show in 2013, expressed his desire to have his spouse killed. 
During opening statements on Friday, Prosecutor Paul M. Watkins told the court that Flynn had been having a ‘years-long’ affair with the unknown woman. Included in one message to his mistress, was the statement: ‘If I could literally kill her and not go to hell I would do it in a heartbeat. That is how dark and hateful I feel.’
In another, Watkins claimed Flynn had also messaged her saying: ‘I was up until 4AM last night crying. Literally crying to think of ways to kill her and not go to jail.’

Flynn [left], with defense attorney Emily Smith, had been having a ‘years-long’ affair with an unnamed woman. He allegedly stated in one of the 100,000 messages they exchanged: ‘If I could literally kill her and not go to hell I would do it in a heartbeat. That is how dark and hateful I feel’

Watkins added: ‘Those two messages are Caleb Flynn’s own words, words communicated to his mistress. Those messages were sent months apart.’
Flynn’s defense admitted to the affair but have said that the state built its case on a theory, and that they would be unable to prove it beyond reasonable doubt.
Defense attorney Emily Smith told the court: ‘The evidence will show text messages between Caleb and his mistress.
‘At times Caleb said hurtful, selfish things about his wife Ashley to appease his mistress.
‘They will also demonstrate that he was texting his mistress about making plans regarding a divorce throughout the time of their relationship.’

Investigators found no signs of forced entry at the couple’s one-story house, which prosecutors say contradicts Flynn’s claims that an intruder broke in and shot his wife

At one point during proceedings Flynn broke down in tears as the 911 call he made to police was played out to the court. 
He could be heard telling a dispatcher: ‘Somebody broke into my home – somebody broke into my home and shot my wife.
‘My wife, she’s got two shots to her head. There’s blood everywhere. Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God.’
Court documents allege that Caleb used a 9mm handgun to shoot his wife in the  head, while their two children were sleeping in rooms nearby. 
The trial is ongoing.
