A man has filmed a thief rummaging through his vehicle in a St Kilda car park.
Melbourne man, John Denney, returned to his unlocked vehicle at an underground car park on Fitzroy Street at about 10.30am on Thursday and caught a man going through the glovebox and console. Mr Denney calmly started filming and questioning the man, and later uploaded the video to Facebook.

‘Just caught this fella red handed going through my car in Fitzroy street, St Kilda underneath the Safeway carpark. Hectic start to the morning, I think he was just after another hit!,’ the video post reads.
The video shows the thief head down rifling through Mr Denney’s centre console.
Mr Denney decided to film the incident because he couldn’t believe what he was seeing.
‘I thought there is no way anyone else would believe it either so I decided to video it,’ he told Daily Mail Australia on Friday.
‘Hop out of me car, mate,’ says Mr Denney in the video.
‘Your car?,’ the thief replies.
‘My car!,’ Mr Denney says.
‘Bull****,’ says the thief.

After some confusion the man turns around as Mr Denney asks him to return what was stolen.
‘I don’t know why you do it mate,’ says Mr Denney.
He tells the thief that there are cameras everywhere, including the one filming him right now.
Mr Denney spots his iPod in the thief’s pocket and asks him if he still has anything.

‘The crayons aren’t mine,’ says Mr Denney, before giving the thief a final warning.
‘If I find out there’s stuff missing out of my car I’ll be coming to look for you.’
Mr Denney was able to recover all his belongings, and will not be reporting the incident to police.  ‘I have actually been contacted by the police but at this stage I do not want to take any further action.’
‘Perhaps he just needed that second. It appeared he was going through a rough patch,’ Mr Denney said.  The video has attracted a number of comments with many praising Mr Denney’s composure.
‘Oh my god Josh, you stayed so calm!! Well done!,’ one user wrote.
‘I realised this fella was not having the best day, I thought a calm approach would be the best alternative as I had no intentions of chasing him,’ Mr Denney told Daily Mail Australia.
