Two Michigan women were arrested for setting up a fake Ashley Madison profile after strange men kept showing up at another woman’s home.
On one such occasion a stranger showed up with flowers and Chinese food only to find the woman’s teenage children at home.
Teresa Allen, 46, had become jealous of her husband’s working relationship with the victim and decided to get revenge, Lowell Police Chief Steve Bukala said on Friday.
Allen and 51-year-old Gwen Eddy were charged with unlawful posting of a message and face two years in prison and $5,000 in fines.
After the pair set up the fake profile on the “world’s leading married dating service for discreet encounters,” at least three men showed up at the victim’s home at different times between Nov. 13 and Dec. 8.

Lowell police officers launched an investigation after the victim reported the strange men showing up at her home as well as the faux Ashley Madison account. She told cops that the only person she could think of who would do such a thing was Teresa Allen.
After the probe led authorities to the second suspect Eddy, forensics experts examined their computers and were able to connect the pair to the crime.
“To quote my computer guy, the IP address is equivalent to leaving your fingerprints or smoking gun at the crime scene,” Bukala told The News.
Teresa Allen was upset because her husband had confided with the victim, at their place of work, about what was going on in their marriage.
