Craig Alan Vandewege, 35, was arrested in Colorado during a traffic stop late Wednesday night, while he was being processed at the Colorado jail, Vandewege was detained on an outstanding warrant from police in Fort Worth, Texas for allegedly, murdering his wife Shanna Vandewege and 3-month-old son,Diederik.
Fort Worth police said that after a week of continuous investigation, they had built up a case to raise a warrant for the arrest of Alan Vandewege for multiple homicide with bond set at $1 million.
Meanwhile police in Colorado stopped Craig Alan Vandewege late Wednesday evening near Glenwood Springs and took him into custody for speeding and failing to provide proof of insurance. Officers had been on the lookout for the suspect after receiving reports of a man acting suspiciously at a 7-11.
A caller told police Vandewege borrowed his phone to call “a few people and talk about a murder,” according to Fox 31.

While he was being processed at the Colorado jail, Vandewege was detained on an outstanding warrant from police in Fort Worth, Texas., for allegedly murdering his wife and 3-month-old child.
Shanna Vandewege, a nurse, and baby Diederik were found with their throats slit inside their Texas home on Dec. 15. The medical examiner’s office confirmed the cause of death for mother and her infant son was their throats being slit.

The Glenwood police who arrested Vandewege said he showed “no emotion” during the traffic stop when he told officers “it’s been a long week, my wife and kids were murdered in Texas.”
During a search, officers said they found two loaded pistols on Vandewege’s person, one in his waistband and another in an ankle holster, he had the permit to carry the concealed weapons on him.
Inside the vehicle, police told NBC 5 they found “numerous boxes of different caliber ammunition, empty gas cans, camouflage clothing, numerous bottles of medication and other miscellaneous items that included an AR-15 style rifle and a .22 (caliber) revolver.”
Vandewege remained jailed in Colorado on Friday in lieu of $1 million bond, police said.
