A man was arrested after a North Carolina mother was found dead and her daughter injured while they were held captive in what the county’s sheriff called a “demonic crime.”
Gary Love, 47, was charged with murder and kidnapping after cops found 46-year-old Robin Denman’s body in her Iredell home. Her 14-year-old daughter claimed that the two were tied up in their home since Christmas Eve, according to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.
Love is expected to face sexual offense charges as well, Redell deputies performed a welfare check around 7:30 a.m. Monday after the teen managed to somehow text a friend asking for help.
When officials arrived, they asked Love if they could speak with Denman, but he told them that she and her daughter had gone to a funeral.
Love then fled the house and was later found where he was taken into custody.
The teen later told officials that the last time she saw her mother was on ChristmasEve as they were held captive in different parts of the house.

Detectives believe Love knew the mother from when they were younger living in New York.
It was not immediately clear how Denman died as officials wait for an autopsy report. Iredell officials say there is sufficient evidence to prove that someone was tied up inside the home.
Love already had an outstanding warrant for domestic violence in Ohio, officials said.
