An 85-year-old widower ended up bankrupt after he sought companionship with a woman on a dating app after his wife died.

John Berman met 49-year-old Nancy Guy when he joined a dating app in April 2013 in Pembroke Pines, Florida.
She had introduced herself as Anna Miller and told Berman that she needed money for a dress-making business.
Guy allegedly defrauded the widower out of more than $300,000.
She promised to pay him back but she always made excuses, including that she had cancer and that her warehouse was flooded and had destroyed $400,000 worth of merchandise.
Guy mysteriously vanished after Berman’s son filed a police report in 2015 when he realized his father’s pending bankruptcy.

They figured out her true identity and Berman identified her in a photo line-up as the woman he knew as Anna Miller.
Police finally caught up to Guy on Thursday and she was arrested.
Pembroke Pines Police captain Christopher Sengelmann believes Guy may victimized other men between 2013 and 2015.
He urged anyone who may have been a victim to contact police.
Authorities said there was no evidence Guy owned a dress-making business.
