The Emerald Princess cruise ship is docked in Juneau, Alaska, Wednesday after the Manzanares murder on board, Tuesday
The ship had embarked on a seven-day round trip from Seattle on Sunday but was diverted to Alaska’s capital city nearly five hours ahead of schedule Wednesday after the tragedy unfolded. It was originally scheduled to carry it’s 3,400 passengers and 1,100 crew on a scenic tour around the Tracy Arm fjord near Juneau, but the event was canceled.
Those aboard said the ship was placed on lockdown as investigators interviewed people across several decks aboard the Princess Cruise ship. Some were reportedly held in their rooms while others were able to walk about the cruiser, but not leave.
Passengers were eventually allowed to disembark around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday and no further changes to the cruise’s schedule are expected, ABC Newsreported.
The FBI has jurisdiction in the case because it happened on the water. Princess Cruises’ Negin Kamali told KTUU authorities were working together to figure out the circumstances leading to Kristy’s death.
This is very sad. I met both of them last year at a company Christmas party. They seemed happy. Kenny and I sat there all night joking and having a good time. According to JonesAB my judge of caricature is flawed, so what do I know! GO FALCONS!
