Woman scorned: Vera Wooten, 40, of Kentucky, has been charged with first-degree assault for allegedly pouring gasoline on her husband and setting him on fire

A fiery argument between a married couple in Kentucky resulted in the wife allegedly dousing her husband with gasoline and setting him ablaze because she thought he was unfaithful.
Officials with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office say 40-year-old Vera Wooten, of Corbin, drove her severely burned husband to the hospital for treatment after the Monday night incident.
Deputies were dispatched to the couple’s home near Woodland Court shortly after 8pm on Monday after getting a report about a domestic incident.
An investigation has revealed that earlier that evening, Vera Wooten had caught her husband in a car with another woman, reported WKYT.
The scorned wife yanked the man out of the car and began pummeling him, according to a report. She then allegedly poured gasoline on him and set him alight.
Meanwhile, Wooten’s suspected romantic rival drove off, but not before dialling 911 and seeing Wooten’s husband engulfed in flames.

The 40-year-old wife then bundled her injured spouse into a car and raced to St Joseph Hospital London. He was later flown by a helicopter to a burn center in Cincinnati.
The victim suffered burns to 50 per cent of his body and was listed in critical condition.
Wooten was arrested by deputies at 9.35pm and charged with first-degree assault with a domestic violence enhancer. She was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
