She honked her horn in response, but when she pulled up at a red light, she saw the defendants pull up beside her.

‘It was the longest red light of my life. They kept screaming at me, telling me they wanted to f***ing kill me. I just wanted the light to change, she told WFLA.
‘I never thought they would get out of their car and run toward me and pull me out of my vehicle.’
The victim said that she’d desperately tried to close her window when she saw Scarduzio and Gemberling get out their car and approach her.

49-year-old waitress Shelley Lyn Gemberling and her stepdaughter Alicia Nikole Scarduzio, let loose on fellow Emily Bailey in Tampa, Tuesday afternoon.
According to police reports cars driven by the alleged assailants and the victim were stopped side by side in traffic when Scarduzio and her stepmother, Gemberling, started arguing with Emily Bailey, the driver of the car next to theirs.
The two women got out of their car, deputies said, and walked over to the other driver’s window. As Bailey tried to raise her window, Scarduzio and Gemberling both reached inside the open window and pulled her out of her car by her hair and throat.
“The victim fell to the ground,” an arrest report said, “at which time the defendants punched the victim multiple times about the face and body, causing the victim to lose consciousness.”
In an interview after the incident Bailey, a veterinary technician, said she when her attackers pulled her out of the car she fell to the ground, then Gemberling and Scarduzio began punching her on her face and body. She says she thought she was going to die.
‘They tried to drag me through my window. When I looked into the woman’s eyes, I saw pure rage. It looked like she wanted to kill me,’ Bailey said.
‘During those times, the daughter said, stop hitting my mom. Quit hitting my mom. And, then she hit me again. And, everything went black.’

They beat her unconscious and video shows the women repeatedly hitting the woman as she lay on the ground. The attack finally came to an end after another motorist, who’d been yelling at them to stop, ran over to intervene.
The video showed a sheriff’s cruiser speeding across the grass median toward Scarduzio as she stopped beating the woman.
“The mom grabbed me by my throat and started squeezing my neck. The daughter grabbed me by the back of my hair and started pulling,” Bailey said. “All I could think about was my son”.
Reacting to the video recorded by a witness which shows her lying on the ground, motionless, as Scarduzio continued to hit her: “It’s hard to watch.  It’s very traumatizing. I think I’ve cried the first four times I’ve seen it,” Bailey said.  “I question every time getting in the car now. Definitely, I don’t want to beat my horn at anyone.”

Bailey was left with a broken nose, concussion and bruises from the assault. She said that during the attack, all she could think of is her little boy, and every time she has to get in the car, she thinks twice.
‘The victim fell to the ground,’ a police arrest report said, ‘at which time the defendants punched the victim multiple times about the face and body, causing the victim to lose consciousness.’
Scarduzio and Gemberling had not been not arrested at the scene, as the “suspects both said they were victims,” according to the Pasco sheriff’s office.
Detectives spoke to witnesses, assembled more evidence, which led to their arrests Wednesday night. One witness told deputies they only saw Scarduzio assault the Bailey, while another witness said they saw both suspects beat the victim and took a photo of them standing over her.
The witness reported seeing Gemberling pulling Bailey out of the vehicle through the window, that she did not see Bailey strike the suspects at any time, but did see the suspects strike her.
Shelley Gemberling who works at Catches Waterfront Grille and Rum River Bar, according to her Facebook page, denied pulling Bailey out of the car. Instead Gemberling said, the victim got out and pushed her. Her stepdaughter, Alicia Scarduzio, also denied punching the victim in the face, although she admitted to striking Bailey with an open hand.
Both have been charged with burglary with aggravated battery. There were booked into the Land O’Lakes Detention Center Thursday in lieu of $50,000 bail, each.
