Police on Wednesday identified the woman whose body parts were discovered this week in a Brooklyn park.
Police sources said the dismembered torso belongs to 26-year-old Brooklyn resident, Brandy Odom, but it still wasn’t clear how she died and who was responsible.
Odom’s head and torso were found around 6:10 p.m. Monday evening in Canarsie Park near East 86th Street and Seaview Avenue.
The gruesome discovery of the torso with most of its legs and arms detached, was made less than a mile from her East 102nd Street home, police said. Odom lived at the Bayview Houses in Canarsie, directly across the street from Canarsie Park, where her body was discovered in a thatch of trees Monday evening, cops said.
A 53-year-old woman walking her dog in the park discovered Odom’s head and naked torso partially covered in leaves inside the park near East 85th Street and Seaview Avenue,on Monday evening, sources said.
The body’s extremities could not be located Monday night.

A prolonged search of the park Tuesday turned up the young woman’s arms, legs and other body parts found covered in plastic bags.
Police recovered a bag of limbs, which they suspect belong to Odom, approximately half a mile from where the body was found, law enforcement sources said.
The park remained closed Wednesday morning, while police were observed escorting a middle-aged woman and several children from the victim’s apartment Tuesday night.

The city medical examiner will determine the cause of death. The incident is under investigation.

The city Medical Examiner has not ruled on a cause of death but police sources said Odom’s face was swollen and bruised. Her arms were severed at the elbows and her legs were hacked just below her buttocks, a source said.
With the initial task of identifying the corpse completed, detectives are trying to recreate murder took place somewhere other than the park, before her remains were discarded in the park only a short time before they were discovered.
No arrests have been made.
Police are reviewing surveillance video around the park to see if they can get any images of the person who carried her remains into the dump site.
