House of Horrors couple David and Louise Turpin, accused of abusing 12 of their 13 children for years, are now facing a total of 50 charges, including eight new counts of perjury, a court heard Friday.
The Turpins, from Perris, California, are charged with 12 counts of torture and false imprisonment, nine counts of child abuse and seven counts of cruelty to a dependent adult.
Mr Turpin faces one count of lewd acts on a child under 14, and Mrs Turpin faces one charge of felony assault. The couple has pleaded not guilty to all these charges, totalling 42 accusations.

Riverside District Attorney filed eight new charges of perjury against Mr Turpin Friday. The couple has yet to enter a plea over the new accusations.
A spokesman for the DA said the charges related to eight private school affidavits Mr Turpin filed with the state Department of Education when he set up his two home schools.

Mr Turpin first registered City Day School at their family home in Murrieta, then later registered Sandcastle Day School in 2011, at their new family home in Perris, allegedly to teach his children aged between six and 18.
The alleged child abuser listed one full-time teacher and one administrator on the school forms, and declared that the schools were not tax-exempt.
In the forms, Turpin also declared that he would keep attendance and qualification records, as required by the state’s Education Code.
Attorney David J. Macher previously told The Orange County Register he understood the new charges were eight counts of perjury, though he could not confirm the details that gave rise to the new accusations.

Mr Turpin appeared in court wearing a turquoise button-down and cream chequered tie. His wife sat next to him, dressed in the same black suit that she appeared in for previous court hearings
Riverside prosecution attorney Kevin Beecham told Judge Emma Smith that the attorneys for the defense have not yet responded with pleas to the new charges.
