A football player was indicted on Friday for the rape and murder of a 19-year-old girl.
Jalique Keene, 21, is suspected of killing Mikaela Conley near the Connors-Emerson School in Bar Harbor, Maine according to WABI 5.
Conley’s body was discovered in a wooded area near the school on June 2 after her family reported her missing just a day earlier.

According to authorities, Conley [left] and her alleged killer went to Mount Desert Island High School together, where Keene was a star running back before graduating in 2015.
He was arrested shortly after video surveillance cameras captured him allegedly dragging Conley across a school playground toward the wooded area where she was later discovered.According to authorities, the two went to Mount Desert Island High School together, where Keene was a star running back before graduating in 2015
An autopsy report later concluded that Conley died by strangulation and blunt force trauma to the head.
Keene told police during questioning that he had sex with Conley and later admitted to getting into a ‘physical altercation’ with the teenager the same night.
The 21-year-old, however, denies that he killed Conley and claims to have left the playground following their liaison. He also told police that their sexual encounter had been consensual.
Court documents show that on May 31, Conley had driven to Boston to pick up Keene at Logan airport, where he was returning from Serbia after playing a season with the Kraljevo Royal Crowns, an amateur football team.
She returned with him back to her Bar Harbor home the same evening on Eden Street, located directly across from the Conners-Emerson School.

Keene told police that it was the first time the two had sex with each other and that she ‘became upset’ after they did so, which prompted a physical altercation.
He says he left Conley at around 3:30am that morning and never saw her again.
But Detective Tom Pickering wrote in a court affidavit that the former athlete had been captured by security cameras dragging an unconscious Conley over his shoulder around the same time.
‘At 3:36am a male appearing to be Jalique [appeared] at her side and after some sort of interaction, he is seen picking her up over his shoulder and walking off with her as she is kicking her feet,’ the detective wrote.
Hours later, the same cameras recorded Keene ‘come from around a row of bushes into the open holding an apparently lifeless Mikaela by her wrists pulled over his back with her body draped on his back and hastily dragging her… toward the area where her body was later found.’
